Pokemon GO Reveals Carnival of Flamigo Event Details

Pokemon Go announced the Carnival of Flamigo event, which will add Flamigo to the augmented reality mobile game. This event will continue the trend of adding Gen 9 creatures Pokemon Goand fans don't have long to wait before they can pick up Flamigo for themselves.

Since its release in July 2016, Pokemon Go regularly adds more Pokémon to his Pokedex. While the game doesn't feature every Pokémon in existence, it does feature hundreds of creatures for players to catch. In fact, so many creatures have been added that Scopely is starting to run out of Pokemon Pokemon Go. For example, some of the earlier generations, including Gen 1 through 3, have no additional Pokémon available to add. Fortunately, some of the newer regions, like Galar and Paldea, still have a supply of pocket monsters to draw from.

Recent Pokémon GO leaks suggest that a new currency, specifically linked to Mega Raids, may be coming to the mobile game soon.

A new event for February 2026 adds Flamigo to Pokemon GO

With February on the horizon, Scopely unveiled the Carnival of Flamigo. This event will help kick off the month and will run from Tuesday, February 3rd at 10:00am to Sunday, February 8th, 2026 at 8:00pm local time. As the name suggests, it stars Flamigo, a sync pokemon. This will be the debut of a Gen 9 creature Pokemon Go and can be encountered in the wild once the event is underway. In addition, other possible wild encounters during Flamigo Carnival include Lotad, Buneary, Pikipek and Spritzee.

In terms of event bonuses, players will have a higher chance of encountering Shiny Lotad, Shiny Spritzee, and Shiny Pikipek. There will also be a few other bonuses you can take advantage of during the Carnival of Flamigo, including 2x Incense and Daily Adventure Incense duration during the event, potentially making it easier to catch some Pokemon. In addition, players will be rewarded with 500 additional stars when catching Flamig.

Bonuses for actions

  • 2x the duration of the incense.

  • 2x the duration of the daily adventuring incense.

  • 500 More Stardust for catching Flamig.

  • Increased chance to encounter Shiny Lotad, Shiny Spritzee and Shiny Pikipek.

While Pokemon Go players can catch Flamig through Wild Encounters, February's event will offer more ways to catch the Pokemon. Notably, new Field Research quests are being added for the Carnival of Flamigo, which will reward encounters with event-themed Pokémon. Players can also complete event-themed collection challenges to try and meet Flamigo. They will also give out XP and Stardust.

In addition to these activities, free and paid timed research will be available for a limited time during the Carnival of Flamigo. Some of the rewards for free timed research include two incense sticks, stardust, and event-themed Pokemon encounters. Players can spend $4.99 to access paid limited-time research that is exclusive to the event. Rewards for this include one Star Piece, event-themed avatar pose, event-themed Pokémon encounters, and more. It's worth noting that rewards earned for completing both versions of Timed Research must be claimed by Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 8:00 PM local time.

This upcoming event suggests that Scopely plans to continue adding new Pokemon to mobile frequently. In fact, the developer hosts another Pokemon Go event at the end of January that will add Glimmet, another Gen 9 creature to the roster. The event, known as Into the Depths, will begin on January 27th at 10:00 AM and run until February 1st at 8:00 PM local time.

It will be interesting to see what other Pokémon make their way into the game in the coming months. More Pokémon from the Paldea area could probably appear. However, Gen 10 games are expected to be released in 2026. If that happens, the pool of available Pokemon could expand dramatically, giving fans more creatures to collect Pokemon Go in the following years.
