PlayStation Sony might be planning some changes to the trophy system, according to a new survey underway. Although the PlayStation trophy system has been around for three generations of consoles, a new survey could give users more control over which feats to perform.
Since its launch in 2020, the PS5 has been constantly adding new features for players to enjoy. In the May 2026 beta firmware update, Sony quietly revealed a player count widget for the console's Welcome Center. The player count widget would be split into a Trends tab, which tracks games by playtime, and a Top 10 tab, which shows weekly player counts for various titles. As the feature is still in beta, it remains to be seen when the new PlayStation player count widget will be ready for full release.

As more and more players collect platinum trophies in various PlayStation titles, Sony has reportedly sent out a new survey for users to fill out. After earning a trophy, users may be prompted in the upper right corner of the screen asking how satisfied they are with the trophies. After responding to the popup, an email will be sent to the user shortly after. The survey includes some options to agree or disagree with specific questions, along with some open-ended boxes asking how the PlayStation Trophy experience can be improved. At the time of writing, it's unclear how long Sony's new survey will run, so users who are prompted to respond should do so when they get the chance.

A potential redesign of the PlayStation trophy could follow what Microsoft did for the Xbox achievement system. In April 2026, Microsoft stated that players will have more control over Xbox achievements, including a profile highlight whenever 100% of game achievements are unlocked. Additionally, Xbox players can hide games from their profile, which has been one of the most requested changes from users over the years. Games hidden in this way will have no impact on the user's player score.
News of the PlayStation Trophy survey comes amid a busy week for Sony and its customers. Starting May 20, the cost of PlayStation Plus was increased due to ongoing global market conditions. PlayStation Plus Essential saw a $1 price increase from $9.99 to $10.99 per month. In addition, the monthly price of the Extra and Premium levels of PlayStation Plus jumped $2 each to $16.99 and $19.99 per month. The PlayStation Plus price hike comes a month after the PS5 saw a general price increase. Currently, the PS5 Digital Edition costs $599.99, which is a $100 increase from the previous price tag of $499.99.

However, Sony will soon have a chance to show off what it's been working on. On June 2, State of Play will give users a look at upcoming PS5 titles such as Marvel's Wolverine. Since the upcoming presentation will last for more than an hour, it stands to reason that some new features of the PS5 could be introduced, such as the revamped trophy system. But it remains to be seen what plans Sony has for the June 2 broadcast.
