New rumors began to circulate around the eventual release Star Wars Jedi 3with rumors claiming an “eventual” release is much, much sooner than you think. Developers Respawn Entertainment and Publisher EA have confirmed that it is still untitled Star Wars Jedi 3 the game is in development, but no other specific details are available. However, a recent rumor shared by a popular industry figure has sparked some debate.
It is worth remembering that the first game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderreleased in 2019 while Star Wars Jedi: Survivor released in 2023. Assuming the same four-year development period is used for the threequel, it is likely that the third game will be released sometime in 2027. However, recent rumors point to a release in the first half of 2026, which, among other things, has divided the fan base to some extent.
New Star Wars Jedi 3 rumors
Shared by well-known industry figure Idle Lenh, Star Wars Jedi 3 it will be released in the first half of 2026 (that means about five months left for marketing and release). They go on to suggest that it will be less linear with galactic hubs for a “more immersive exploration experience”. Additionally, it's said to be a darker, more mature story, with the antagonists being a new faction with ties to the Force but unrelated to the Empire. It is also said to expand the Force's list of abilities Star Wars Jedi: Survivorstating that combat is “harder and more reactive”.
Why many fans do not believe these rumors
To wrap things up, Idle Sloth says the 2026 release is due to EA's formula, the growth of the Respawn team, and feedback from Jedi: Survivor. And despite an apparent early 2026 release date, there is caution surrounding the title due to “fan expectations, corporate oversight and EA's past monetization issues.” The response to these rumors is quite telling. Overall, the fandom is divided around the demands of a more open world Star Wars experience, Empire removal and combat changes. For the most part, however, many are pointing out that a 2026 release is unlikely.
Many would welcome a shorter period from launch, but doubt it would be the case. Given the timeline of their development Star Wars games, 2027 still makes the most sense, and many doubt its release this year. Not to mention there are already two more Star Wars games with a confirmed 2026 release date: Star Wars: Zero Company (made by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment) a Star Wars: Galactic Racer. Three isn't impossible, but it seems unlikely given that at least some of the Respawn developers are working on it Zero company also.
Why some fans believe these rumors
Others believe the claim has some possible legitimacy. Not only do they welcome the shorter window, as most games are announced years before release, but there's also the fact that Respawn Entertainment recently canceled some projects due to layoffs in the industry. This would theoretically allow Respawn to put more resources into developing both Zero company and Eat 3. It's not necessarily unheard of for a single studio to release multiple games in a year, with Obsidian Entertainment releasing 3 in 2025 and Playground Games releasing 2 in 2026, but it's rare.
Overall, like all rumours, this one should be taken with a grain of salt. Maybe a container full of salt. When popular content creator JorRaptor asked about the source of Idle Sloth, the Twitter user was met with silence. Stranger things have happened, but it would seem that the Force would need some serious alignment for these rumors to be confirmed.
