Imu checks things from the shadows in One piece world for centuries, but it wasn't until the Reverie arc that Oda finally revealed their existence. Imu sits atop the Void Throne and rules over all the celestial dragons and as such the rest of the world.
Naturally, given that Imu is the ultimate antagonist in One piece series, it won't surprise anyone to know that they have immense powers. While all of Imu's powers have yet to be revealed, Oda has already revealed more than enough to give fans an idea of why Imu controls the entire world and what power they have up their sleeves. After a good glimpse of their power in the Final Saga, it now makes sense how Imu was able to defeat Joy Boy in the Century of the Void.

Imu is probably immortal because of Ope Ope no Mi
Imu is canonically immortal
There are many powers that Imu has up their sleeve, but the first one to discuss is their power of immortality. It's already been confirmed that Imu is a relic from the Void Century and was founded by Oda in Reverie, and the fact that they're still alive now proves that. The reason for their immortality is still unclear, but Ivankov and Dragon strongly believe that Imu had them perform the Ope Ope no Mi Yearlong Youth Surgery at some point in the past.
One Piece quietly confirms its undisputed best devil fruit user
The Best Devil Fruit user has been exposed. This character is on a whole other level in One Piece.
Among the first 20 kings who fought against the ancient empire long ago in the Void Century was a figure known as Saint Imu Nero. This person was not supposed to be the king of the world. Instead, he was only to be one of 20 kings to take the oath of equality before the Empty Throne. Still, Imu somehow found his way to the top and sat on the Empty Throne with everyone else bowing. More importantly, Imu is still alive today, 800 years later. quite clearly Imu has the power of immortality and the only way that can be explained is with Ope Ope no Mi. It is a known fact that with Operation Perennial Youth, Ope Ope no Mi can make anyone immortal at the cost of the user's life. In Imu's case, this surgery was probably performed by a genius doctor long ago in the Void Century. This power of immortality is one of the main reasons why Imu is as strong as they are.

Imu has a unique mythical zoan devil fruit
The power of immortality explains why Imu has been alive for so long in the One Piece world, but there is more to them than just immortality. As made clear in the story, Imu also has ka access Zoan-type mythical devil fruit. What exactly a devil fruit is remains unknown, but the fact is that Imu can transform into some kind of creature, which all but confirms that this devil fruit belongs to the Mythical Zoan type.

This Devil Fruit transformation was first seen when Sabo infiltrated Marijoa and attacked the Elder Five and Ima. All six of them instantly transformed into their Devil Fruit forms. Since the Five Elders have Yokai powers granted to them by Imu, it is clear that Imu has some Mythical Zoan ability.
Imu quickly transformed into a giant four-legged creature and absorbed the fire that Sabo threw at them. Then Imu used their pointed arrow-like tail and impaled both Sabo and King Cobra. It was quite clearly a mythic transformation of some kind of demonic entity, and it gives Imu immense powers.

Imu's Fruit grants demonic powers
Imu's Devil Fruit has demonic powers and this was first confirmed in the Elbaf arc of One Piece. In this particular arc, Imu decided to take over Gunko's body. Once they did, Gunko underwent a unique transformation, sprouting two giant bat-like wings and a dark tail with a pointed end, portraying the clichéd appearance of a devil.

Imu also referred to themselves as God, meaning that any Devil Fruit ability they have gives them divine power similar to Luffy's Sun God Nika. Imu also enjoys turning others into demons, meaning that Imu considers himself the demon god of the One Piece world.

Imu can use demon contracts
As for Imu's overall powers, Oda has already revealed quite a bit to fans. The first and most important power that Imu possesses is the grimoire. This grimoire can summon Ima with some kind of spell and consists of various spells. The full extent of this grimoire's abilities has yet to be revealed, but it goes without saying that this grimoire is incredibly overpowered.

3 female Yonko level characters in one piece
One Piece has a lot of powerful female characters, but only a handful of them are Yonko level.
When Ima was attacked by Dorry and Brogy, it proved that just one spell from the grimoire was enough to subdue these two absolutely massive warriors with a cumulative reward of 3.6 billion berries. Imu used the power of Domi Reversi, a grimoire spell, on them. Domi Reversi is simply a spell that allows Imo to take an enemy's body part or injure them in some way with their appendages. Imu then forces the contract on the target and takes away some of their life. Instead, Imu gives them a superhuman body that is immortal and disregards logic. They also become Imu's subordinate slaves. The power of Domi Reversi turned Dorry and Brogy into Imu's demon slaves. At the same time, Imu also used this power on Rocks D. Xebec in God Valley and it was quite obvious that even someone as strong as Rocks could not withstand it.

Imu Has the Power of Contracts
If the grimoire wasn't enough, Imu also has the power to grant Covenants to others. Just as the Domi Reversi is a treaty power, so is the Covenant that bestows Ima upon its subordinates. There are three different degrees of contracts that Imu can grant to others:
- Shallow Sea Treatywhich allows anyone bearing this power to instantly pass through the Abyss. In the Holy Land of Marijoa, they are constantly under the supervision of Imu.
- Deep conventionwhich gives a person unimaginable superhuman strength, as well as regeneration and immortality. At the same time, it also gives them access to the Abyssal forces, and Imu can use their bodies as a vessel of any scale.
- Abyssal Covenantwhich is the strongest of the three. In addition to granting everything else that the Deep Sea Covenant grants, it also gives them the ageless body and power of a Yokai at the same time. This is the strongest contract Oda has shown in the story and is only used by the Five Elders and most likely Gunko.

Imu has stunning Haki
Besides all that Imu is also a master Haki user. They have Haki of all three types and it is incredibly powerful. Imu's Haki was first shown in the Elbaf Arc and was so powerful that it could be felt miles away, even in the underworld of this giant land. Then in God Valley, Imu's Haki was shown to be stronger than people like Roger and Garp, meaning they were at a much higher level when it came to manipulating Haki. The only one who has Haki stronger than Imu would be Joy Boy, but aside from him, Imu has the strongest Haki in the entire series.
