The Sims 4 features a content gallery where players can create and showcase their Sims and other creations. Although these are usually cheerful or funny pictures, it seems that someone has uploaded pictures of game model Jeffrey Epstein. To make matters worse, the model is surrounded by children in towels.
As spotted by Odysseusford on Reddit (via Kotaku ), a user uploaded these images under the name 'NPC Children Townies'. It doesn't directly mention Epstein, but the model definitely looks like him and could be ripped from other users' creations, as there seem to be quite a few in the gallery.
EA has removed the user-created Epstein model from The Sims 4
In a statement to Kotaku, an EA spokesperson said the content was “completely unacceptable and has been removed by our team.”
“If we find content that violates our User Agreement and Positive Gaming Charter, we may take a number of enforcement actions, including removing the content and the player's access to some or all of EA's services,” the statement continued. “We encourage players to report this kind of content in The Sims Gallery by clicking Report next to the item.”
While that particular set of images has now been removed, the report also states that there are several Epstein-based creations available in The Sims 4. He is on one of them with associate and convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell. It was uploaded as early as 2023 and has even been downloaded by more than 1000 players. These images still haven't been removed.
The Sims 4: Royal & Legacy expansion brings back medieval magic to The Sims
Magic, court intrigue and plenty of scandal!
Gamers in the comments section were stunned to see such images, saying, “That's one of the worst things I've ever seen” and “There's been a download, which is a bit disturbing.” As bad as it is to have pictures of Epstein and Maxwell in the Sims 4 gallery, to feature partially naked kids alongside him is just awful. Hopefully EA will address all such uploads soon.
With the partial release of Epstein's files, many connections between him and the video game industry were revealed. There was a Pokemon Go PokeStop on Epstein Island that has now been removed. He also helped push microtransactions in the Call of Duty franchise through correspondence with former Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.
