Every Time Vegeta Died (And Who Killed Him)

Death comes to everyone – often more than once if you are unlucky enough to be a Dragon Ball character. At this point, every single member of the Z-Fighters has died more than once, especially when spin-offs and alternate timelines are considered. It's shocking that Vegeta actually died as many times as Krillin Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Superand Dragon Ball Online.

Vegeta's deaths tend to be some of the most interesting, emotional, and dramatic of them all Dragon Ballhe usually says something about his character rather than just shocking to raise the stakes. Like Goku, Vegeta is one of the few characters to be responsible for at least one of his own deaths, but he's lost his life to a lot of villains—and even his biggest rival. Dragon Ball Online.

Frieza beats Vegeta to death on Namek

Vegeta dies for the first time on Namek. After receiving a Zenkai boost when Dende heals him, Vegeta mistakenly believes that this enhancement is enough to help him fend off Frieza. He couldn't have been more wrong. So much faster and stronger than the prince of all Saiyans, Frieza immediately starts toying with Vegeta as he beats him to near death.

Frieza punches Vegeta, strangling him, and his body is broken and bleeding on the ground. Vegeta is left in tears as he pleads with Goku to avenge the Saiyans. Frieza eventually kills Vegeta with a death ray to the chest, piercing his heart. Goku gives Vegeta a silent burial on Namek as he takes on the pride of all Saiyans and begins his final battle with Frieza.

Future Androids 17 and 18 Kill Super Saiyan Vegeta in Trunks' Timeline

Vegeta's future death

In the Future Trunks timeline, Vegeta is one of the first Z-Fighters to die during the battle with the Androids (he dies second after Piccolo dies first). After Goku's death from the Heart Virus, Vegeta manages to unlock Super Saiyan and become the strongest hero on Earth before Androids 17 and 18 awaken.

Unfortunately, Future Vegeta didn't have the head start that his main counterpart had in the Android timeline. Future Vegeta is easily killed by future Androids 17 and 18 in their battle. Flashback v Dragon Ball Z the anime shows Future Vegeta specifically killing Android 17's Photon Flash.

Majin Vegeta sacrifices his life to stop Majin Buu

Majin Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z
Main Herb

Majin Buu Saga is an all-time low for Vegeta. After Goku returns to Earth for a day, Vegeta quickly goes through a mid-life crisis when he realizes that his rival is much stronger than he will ever be. Vegeta, who gets possessed by Babidi, gains immense power and starts behaving like he did in the Saiyan Saga – killing innocents indiscriminately and driving Goku into a life-and-death battle.

After Goku talks Vegeta into sense by reminding him of his love for Bulma and Trunks, Vegeta snaps at Goku and takes it upon himself to kill Majin Buu. Defeated by Buu, Vegeta has no choice but to put all of his Ki into one final attack: his final reconciliation. Vegeta self-destructs because he knows he's destined to go to hell for everything he's done. Vegeta doesn't kill Buu, but proves himself a true hero by sacrificing himself.

Frieza blows up the Vegeta next to the rest of Earth

IN Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection FWhis points out that Vegeta's fatal flaw is that he thinks too much. During the final battle of the film, Vegeta has Golden Frieza on the ropes and is extremely close to killing him. Frieza can't do anything against Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta's overwhelming power, but as hinted earlier in the movie, Vegeta takes too long and overthinks.

By toying with Frieza, Vegeta gives the bully the perfect window to obliterate the Earth and destroy Vegeta. Whis rewinds time just enough so that Goku can attack and kill Frieza with a Kamehameha just before he can destroy the planet. Vegeta is clearly upset that he didn't get the chance to kill Frieza, not knowing that he wasted his only chance.

Goku & Vegeta kill each other in Dragon Ball Online's Future

Akira Toriyama wrote a timeline for the MMORPG Dragon Ball Online which describes the fates of all the main Z-Fighters. In Age 801, Goku and Vegeta fly into space for one final battle, knowing that they are past their prime and at the end of their lives. Their final fight is never seen, but a few years later, a supernova is observed in roughly the same area where Goku and Vegeta stayed.

One thing is certain about their final fight: neither Goku nor Vegeta are coming back. Realistically, Goku and Vegeta killed everyone during their last battle and left specifically to fight to the death. If only their last battle was anything like this Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroboth drained each other's full energy and the winner slowly went down after securing the victory.
