Resident Evil Requiem is loaded with references that are impossible to pick up on the first playthrough

Resident Evil Requiem was a huge success not only for Capcom, but for the franchise as a whole. The ninth major chapter in the series delivers both non-stop scares and plenty of action as Grace Ashcroft and Leon Kennedy share the spotlight. Resident Evil Requiem coming so close Resident EvilThe 30th anniversary makes several key moments in the game that much more nostalgic.

IN RequiemLeon returns to Raccoon City. Seeing him walk through the doors of the raccoon police department after nearly three decades gives me goosebumps. Requiem's trip down memory lane isn't the only thing that connects him to the past Resident Evil games though. This new entry has already proven to be one of the best games of 2026, but the attention to detail when it comes to lore references is the cherry on top of an amazing horror experience. Several of these links are so well hidden that players even had to crack the game to find them.

A 91-year-old player just beat Resident Evil Requiem without a guide

Defying stereotypes, the 91-year-old beats Resident Evil Requiem without using guides, instead opting for handwritten notes.

Requiem is almost impossible to find Resident Evil 7 Easter Egg

It turns out that Requiem is connected to Resident Evil 7at least in a small way. Using freecam, PC players can see what Grace is researching on her laptop during a scene of her and her mother Alyssa in their room at the Wrenwood Hotel. Grace's laptop shows a site that looks a lot like Reddit, with people discussing the Dulvey incident. Resident Evil 7The thread mentions the Baker family, the disappearance of Deputy David Anderson, and a giant monster (the final Mold boss). It's a wild discovery that many wouldn't even think to look for.

This easter egg is actually the second way the two games are connected. IN Resident Evil 7an article written by Alyssa Ashcroft about missing people in the Dulvey area can be found. It's a small cameo, but it works Requiem's reference a deeper meaning than just being a fun shout out. Grace was more than likely with Alyssa when she investigated Dulvey's disappearance, so she's certainly deeply fascinated by the case.

Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil Zero even appear in Requiem

These two references are incredibly subtle, but at least players don't need freecam to find them. During a sequence at the Raccoon City Orphanage, two Resident Evil Requiem Easter eggs it seems directly refer to the first game and Resident Evil Zero. There are several toy arrangements in the playroom that look purposeful.

  • A castle-like dollhouse with four teddy bears standing in front of it.

  • A small toy train

The teddy bear dollhouse could be a nod to Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton and Wesker entering the Spencer Mansion. When it comes to the train, some fans believe it's a reference to Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen trying to survive on the Ecliptic Express. The events of both games only take place on one day, so it would make sense for the Easter Egg to reference them at the same time. If the train was alone, it would probably be hard to call it a link. However, the train combined with teddy bears and a large dollhouse adds more weight. As hope for a Resident Evil 1 remake continues to grow, one wonders if this could also be a teaser for things to come. Speaking of potential teasers, there's another link that several players believe hints at Resident Evil future plans of the franchise.

Could Requiem tease the long-awaited Code: Veronica Remake?

This just might be RequiemThe developers are kidding the players, but for some fans who have been dying to Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake. Potential Code: Veronika the remake teaser was found in the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center lounge. The players saw a bottle of liquor with the inscription AVERNICO. It didn't take long to figure out that switching between letters meant “Veronica”.

RequiemRhodes Hill Chronic Care Center is one of the game's best backdrops, and there are likely more Easter eggs that have yet to be discovered. As exciting as this reference is, it's important to keep expectations in check. The players waited Resident Evil Code: Veronica redo news for a while, but this could just be a nod to the game instead of a teaser.

Fans have been clamoring for a new Claire Redfield lead Resident Evil game for a long time. Seeing her in another remake wouldn't quite fulfill those wishes, but it would be better than nothing.

Resident Evil Village makes a surprise appearance in Requiem

The story of Ethan Winters v Resident Evil 7 and Village is an integral part of the overall lore of the franchise, but it's still surprising to find a reference to it in the Requiem. While playing RequiemReddit user Apodecte took a screenshot of a scene where Emily is reading a braille book. Apodecte then took a picture of the braille and fed it into the translator. It turns out that the text reads: “he greeted her heartily and bit his own wing.” For those who remember Resident Evil VillageIn the opening sequence, an animated scene takes place as Mia reads baby Rosemary a storybook called “Village of Shadows.” A line in Emily's book is taken right out of a children's story, so she's reading the exact same book Mia was reading. Like Grace's laptop, this is another fun example of how detailed Requiem's developers have made some of its easter eggs. The Resident Evil Village link in Requiem is a great reminder of how intertwined everything is in this universe.

The upcoming Requiem DLC may hold even more secrets

Now that Capcom has confirmed a Resident Evil Requiem With DLC on the way, it will be fun to see if there are any more hidden gems to uncover. Capcom has not officially announced this Resident Evil 1 or Code: Veronika it's still being remade, but there could be more potential teasers in the DLC. Right now, players can only hope for a big reveal in the near future. Until then, fans have plenty of time to scan every inch Requiem try to find more links to past games.
