At a time when the use of artificial intelligence in entertainment media has become widespread, the implementation of artificial intelligence in video games has become a highly polarizing topic. Former Warhorse Studios employee claims they were replaced by AI
The individual, who identified himself as Max H, claims that he has been working for Warhorse Studios since July 2022 as a translator from Czech to English. They claim they were invited to a meeting on March 27, 2026 and were suddenly informed that their position with the company would be “obsolete” from April 2026. According to a statement, the company informed Max H that efforts to be “more efficient” and “save money” resulted in a desire to use “AI for all future translations.” Max H further claims that conversations about using AI for translations at Warhorse Studios have come up in the past, and Max H has “always strongly and vocally opposed” such changes. Max H now feels “incredibly betrayed” but has asked fans to refrain from harassing the remaining staff and to refrain from bombarding reviews of any Warhorse Studios games.
At the time of writing, there has been no official statement from Warhorse Studios regarding Max H's claims. The moderators claim in the original Reddit post that they have officially verified Max H's identity, though it remains unknown how that verification was completed. Some commenters under the post believe they have found a LinkedIn account related to a potential Max H, but they also remain unsubstantiated at this time. It's key to note that any verification of Max H's identity doesn't necessarily make the AI termination and replacement allegations legitimate, so viewers may want to watch how the situation develops. Due to the large number of video game company layoffs in recent years, there is no way to know if Warhorse Studios will ever make an official confirmation or statement on the matter.
Warhorse Studios is far from the only company facing accusations of laying off workers in favor of AI replacements.
