If there's one thing PlayStation fans love, it's a good Platinum Trophy. However, not all Platinum is created equal, and some are easier than others, while some have no Platinum at all, making trophy hunting a lot more fun.
This is also why community rankings have worked to stop counting shovelware titles from overall metrics, and why players are often vehemently against AI slop titles, even if their developers think they're doing nothing wrong.
While many thought that FromSoftware's titles were the hardest platinum to get, they're mostly right. Indeed, some of the hardest trophies around often involve multiplayer requirements, and it's doubly bad when those games have barren servers or are also difficult.
After Ninja Gaiden 2, We Need A Remake Of Ninja Gaiden Black
Ninja Gaiden Black still holds up, but it could really benefit from some tweaks and a fresh new look.
Such is the case with Team Ninja's PlayStation Vita port of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. However, one proud trophy hunter, Tqvry, can now say they've slain the beast. Literally.
If you are able to get impossible platinum you deserve a special icon or something
As first spotted by Push Square, Tqvry can now say he's the only person who has Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on Vita. Platinum requires the player to “successfully complete all missions on Turbo difficulty.”
Normally, this would be pretty easy for an experienced Ninja Gaiden player. But where it gets tough is the fact that there are co-op trophies and the servers no longer exist. Instead, you're paired with an AI companion, and calling the AI companion useless might actually be a compliment.
It also doesn't help that, as Push Square noted, the PS Vita's system has issues, and in addition to having to deal with brain-dead AI, you're also fighting the strengths of the system itself.
No problem, Tqvry did it and they have a full live stream to prove it. Given how long the game has been around and how hard Platina is, they might be able to claim that they are the only ones who have ever done this. That said, someone might be inspired to fight for the crown, but one look at the live stream is enough proof to stay away.
“Absolutely massive congrats on this, now without a doubt the hardest legit platinum on PSN,” wrote one user in response.
If you're feeling particularly adventurous, Ninja Gaiden 2 got a Black treatment last year and also has a Platinum. The latter received a more modest 652 players.
