Earlier this month I reported on the Wikipedia Gacha web game. It's a game that turns Wikipedia articles into trading cards that you can collect and battle like Pokemon. Each card has a rarity, attack and defense power, and there are over 6.5 million to collect.
Wikipedia Gacha seems to have spawned a wave of browser-based Gacha spin-offs, as you can now try to collect every Happy Meal toy since 2000 in McGachapon.

Upon opening the game, you'll be greeted with either a regular Happy Meal, which contains one to three toys, or a Golden Happy Meal, which has a 1/30 chance of appearing and contains six to 10 toys. You can click through as many times as you like and watch your collection grow, and whenever you want to exchange three duplicates for a new toy.

We can't believe how much some of these fun toys cost! We should never have taken our McDonald's treasures out of their little plastic bags.
For science, I opened 63 McDonald's Happy Meals on McGachapon to see what toys I pulled out. I managed a bunch of Smurfs, a few from Super Mario, and most excitingly, I pulled a few Pokemon, including Hoopa and Charizard. My biggest catch comes from the Asterix 60 collection where I managed to get four different toys. Out of my 63 boxes, I grabbed 138/2935 toys from 61 regular Happy Meals and two gold ones.
It's a fun little sink of time and I really felt like an old man. What do you mean Toy Story 2 is older than 26 and Finding Nemo is older than 23? This makes you question the passage of time and wonder what will change next in gacha – Pogs? Crazy Bones?? The possibilities are endless.
There is already a huge secondary market for McDonald's trading cards, with some selling for over $420
Speedee is the current record holder, but we are still waiting for the first finder of the Golden Ronald McDonald.
