The introduction of Squad Zero as the guardians of Soul Society's secrets and the Soul King's last line of defense was a fantastic piece of the puzzle. Bleach. The aura and spiritual pressure that flooded the entire Soul Society realm upon their arrival hinted at what the occasion would be. However, when Squad Zero finally took to the battlefield against the Kingsguard, it was clear that fans were in for a treat.
While the Kingsguard were quite a challenge and were definitely at the cutting edge of the rest of the Wandenreich, it came down to Squad Zero finally recognizing them as a real threat and unleashing their banks. The setting of this sequence and the other narration was amazing and the art direction of Shutar's Bankai was perfect. Royal Guard vs. Squad Zero is one of the best sequences in the first half of the Millennium Blood War animation.
4 Ikkaku vs Edrad
Ikaku rises to the occasion
Ikkaku Madarame was introduced at the beginning of the year Bleach anime as one of Ichigo's first encounters in Soul Society. When Ikkaku and Ichigo faced off, Ikaku was in it for the fun of the fight rather than going all out. However, in the Arrancar Arc, where Aizen's creations began to descend into the world of the living, Ikkaku found himself in a dire situation.

When no one is around, Ikaku screams, unleashes his Bankai, and puts on an incredible performance in battle. Ikkaku Madarame released the most prominent edition of Bankai v Bleach history, with impeccable voice acting in both Sub and Dub along with fantastic animation that elevated the entire episode.
3 Ichigo vs Grimjoww first meeting
Ichigo takes a devastating loss
The signal that informed Ichigo and Soul Society of the arrancar's existence was when Grimjoww forced several of his minions to invade the world of the living and attack the current roster of Soul Reapers present. This surprise attack pushed Squad Eleven's Ikaku Madarame, Squad Six's Lieutenant Abari, and Squad Ten's Captain Hitsuguya to their limits as they faced an opponent they did not fully understand. Ichigo, who was also present, met Grimjow for the first time, sparking their legendary rivalry.
This is one match where Ichigo was completely outclassed from start to finish. While the manga demonstrated the power difference between the sixth Espada and Ichigo, the anime showed how much Grimjoww beat Ichigo with sheer force. The sound design of the punches Ichigo received and the brilliant voice acting by Junichi Suwabe elevated Grimjow to a perennial favorite.
2 Captain Yamamoto versus False Ywach
The strongest finally takes to the battlefield
The invasion and near overrun of all of Soul Society by a single group is one of the best and most shocking moments of the new season. Bleach. As the most powerful captains of the thirteen court guards were defeated one by one, fans around the world were on edge. Beyakuya Kuchiki, Toshiro Hitsuguya, and even Soifon were defeated by a surprise attack from a hidden Quincy battalion.

While it turned out to be a trap to lull Yamamoto into a false sense of security, the idea of Yamamoto going all out for the good of his home, allies, and pride was a masterful thematic moment.
1 Zaraki Knepachi vs Gremmy
Zaraki proves to be a force of nature
Early in the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc, Zaraki and Unohana clashed with blades in an attempt to remove the limits Zaraki himself had placed on his abilities in order to enjoy his fights more. When Zaraki reached his former prime, he not only discovered his true power, but also the shikai of his Zanbakto. Who else would be the best match for Zaraki to fight to his heart's content than Gremmy, a reality warping Quincy with the ability to bring his imagination to life.
Gremmy threw everything he could at Zaraki, from unblockable blades, end-of-the-world meteorites, and even the cold vacuum of space. Each time, Zaraki returned to prove that there was nothing he could not cut through, be it flesh, stone, or time and space. The breathtaking animation and emotion of the fight sequence left a huge impact that left fans wanting more of Zaraki's true form.
