Shanks beat Bartolomeo to a pulp in the latest episode

Bartolomeo saved the inhabitants of Gartel Island

Shanks defeated Bartolomeo and his crew
In One Piece Episode 1156, it was revealed that Bartolomeo traveled to Gartel Island, where his crew beat up thugs harassing the locals. Not long after, the Barto Club attempted to sell Straw Hat merchandise to the natives. However, no one was willing to buy the goods, which confused Bartolomeo's crew. They eventually learned that Gartel Island was under the protection of the Red-Haired Pirates.
Bartolomeo responded in the worst possible way by destroying the flag. Shortly after, word of the incident reached Shanks, who wasted no time heading to the island. Yonko and his crew beat Bartolomeo to a pulp. They gave Bartolomeo an ultimatum – poison Luffy within a month or pay with his life.
After hearing the order, Bartolomeo immediately took the vial of poison and consumed every last drop of it. The event showed Bartolomeo's loyalty to the Straw Hat Pirates. Bartolomeo thought his fate was sealed, but it turns out the vial did not contain any kind of poison. As it turns out, Shanks was only testing Bartolomeo and his devotion to Luffy. Yonko was impressed by the Barto Club's loyalty. Finally, Shanks allowed Bartolomeo to leave. As the Barto Club began to sail away, Yasopp targeted and destroyed the ship. Shanks could have stopped Yasop, but he knew the latter had made the right call.
Shanks wants to get a single piece
It wasn't too long ago that Shanks was confirmed to be firmly in the running to acquire One Piece. Some fans were surprised by his desire to obtain the One Piece, as for most of the series he showed absolutely no desire to find the treasure. Now with Shanks in the running, things are much more complicated for the other individuals who want to become the Pirate King.

Shanks is probably the strongest character in the One Piece world. He possesses all three types of Haki and can use their advanced versions as well. In fact, Shanks can use his Conqueror's Haki to prevent his opponent from using Future Sight, putting them at a huge disadvantage. Shanks doesn't have devil fruit, but his Haki more than makes up for it.
It will be interesting to see how Luffy reacts to Shanks' strong desire in the future. He always considered Shanks as his role model, maybe even part of his family.
Of course, it won't be easy with someone so close to him. If the two have to fight at some point, it's bound to be emotional.
However, most fans agree that Shanks will probably fight Blackbeard at some point. The two have a rich history, so it makes more sense for them to fight. Blackbeard was the one who gave Shanks the scar over his eye, and he never forgave him. At Marineford, they looked down, but Blackbeard realized that his crew was unprepared and likely to be destroyed by the Red Haired Pirates. However, their next meeting will not end so peacefully.
Shanks and Blackbeard are actively searching for the One Piece and will do whatever it takes to get it. Blackbeard is known for his deceit and treachery, so it's possible that he won't beat Shanks in a 1v1. Blackbeard is likely to formulate a well-thought-out strategy that will ensure his victory.
