Gunzilla Games has hit back at recent reports that some have claimed Off The Grid developers were not paid for their work, with CEO Vlad Korolev issuing a detailed statement attributing the accusations against the company to “haters”. However, he did not directly deny many of the central allegations and instead hinted at the surrounding situation Off The Grid was more complicated.
Founded in 2020, Gunzilla Games is a European studio with offices in London, Kyiv and Frankfurt. According to publicly available data, LinkedIn has over 200 employees as of spring 2026. The company's debut title, a free-to-play crypto battle royale shooter titled Off The Gridlaunched for consoles in October 2024, before coming to PC in July 2025. In early April 2026, several current and former employees reported on LinkedIn that they had not been paid for work on the game in months, adding that they knew of others in a similar situation.

Gunzilla CEO Defends Studio Payment Dispute
On April 9, CEO Vlad Korolev addressed the non-payment allegations directly in a lengthy response posted on X, formerly Twitter. While he framed the criticism as an attempt to damage both Gunzilla and Off The GridHis statement also acknowledged that some recent payments were structured around the company's cash flow rather than the timing preferred by workers. “That's the reality of the world we live in,” Korolev said, seemingly confirming that some Off The Grid developers have yet to get paid for their contributions to the project.
Korolev further claimed that Gunzilla had spent more than a year managing costs since April 2026, which he characterized as nothing unusual in the current game development environment. He framed the disputed timing of the payments as part of those ongoing efforts. The CEO also made a clear distinction between the different groups in the company. In defending Gunzill's practices, Koroljov claimed that full-time employees have never faced serious payment delays in the company's history, adding that their paychecks have never been more than a week late.
Despite his dismissive stance and claims that concerns about Gunzilla's sustainability are being exaggerated by “haters,” Korolj's latest statement doesn't amount to an outright defense, as it also includes an apology to anyone affected by the company's practices. It is not clear when Off The Grid developers who say they are still waiting to be paid for their work will pay the company. It's also unclear how many suppliers have had their payments delayed as part of Gunzilla's stated cost optimization efforts.

Despite apparent financial problems, Gunzilla was the company that revived Game Informer in March 2025, securing the brand from GameStop, bringing back the editorial team, and restoring the publication's archive, promising that the outlet would operate independently. Allegations are now emerging in this connection Off The Grid they carry added weight as they sit awkwardly alongside Gunzilla's recent efforts to establish themselves as a stabilizing force for an older name in gaming media.
