In November 2021, Nintendo confirmed that update 2.0 would be the last for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Annual events would still appear, but there would be no more new additions to one of the best-selling games of all time. That was until late last year when version 3.0 was revealed alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game.
With Nintendo promising to end support four years ago, this came as a huge surprise, and it was assumed that would indeed be the case, with Nintendo putting New Horizons to rest.
However, in time for the series' 25th anniversary, Nintendo has released one more update, which consists mostly of bug fixes, but includes one brand new item to celebrate the latest milestone.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0.2 Update Details
Animal Crossing was originally an N64 title in Japan, known as Dōbutsu no Mori, released on April 14, 2001. It made its way to the West a year later with the Nintendo GameCube version of Animal Crossing.
In its official patch notes for today's update, Nintendo reveals that a quarter century since the release of Dōbutsu no Mori, “a commemorative item has been added to mark the 25th anniversary of the Animal Crossing series.” That item is the series' signature leaf logo in the form of a giant statue the size of a villager.
In addition to the celebratory item, Nintendo revealed that the following bugs have been fixed:
-
Fixed an issue in hotel guest rooms where furniture placement or guest behavior could prevent leaving the room.
-
Fixed an issue where it was sometimes possible to craft multiple items at once using a DIY recipe requiring six types of materials even without enough materials.
-
Fixed an issue where the snowball bug could remain on the screen after the snowball disappeared.
-
Fixed an issue where objects could jump out of a rock before the shovel touched down on impact.
-
This issue was addressed in Ver. 3.0.1 but it can still occur under certain conditions so it has been patched again.
-
-
Fixed an issue where bringing player-created custom designs to Slumber Island could prevent them from being displayed on Able Sisters or uploaded to the Custom Design Portal.
-
Fixed an issue where glowing spots on the island would not light up when looking at the island from the plane when returning from another island.
-
Fixed an issue where villagers who promised to visit the player's home could occasionally appear in unnatural locations inside the house.
-
Additional adjustments and fixes have been made to improve the gaming experience.
DLC changes
The following issues related to the paid DLC “Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise” have been fixed.
-
Fixed an issue where animals requesting holiday homes would stop appearing on the beach, even if some animals do not yet have holiday homes.
Since it's been six years since New Horizons was released, it seems about time we got a new Animal Crossing. For now, however, Pokopia fills that void.
