A new report hints at a PlayStation 5 version Star field is off to a “medium” start on the platform, earning $7.7 million in sales with 140,000 copies sold in its first week. Star field first launched for Xbox Series X/S and PC back in 2023, but has now become the latest first-party Xbox game to leapfrog its competition and join the likes of Forza Horizon 5, Gears of War: Reloadedand Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Over the past few years, Xbox has changed its release strategy significantly. Exclusives seem to be a thing of the past now, as 2024 saw some big first-party titles such as Grounded and Sea of Thievesare making their way to the PlayStation 5. The following year, even bigger games appeared, such as Forza Horizon 5 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024will also receive PlayStation ports. Starfield reportedly sells 140,000 PS5 copies in one week
Speculation and rumors surrounding the PS5 version Star field have been circulating online for months before the official announcement from Bethesda. The divisive RPG finally hit the platform on April 7th alongside a massive free update known as Free Lanes and new paid DLC Terran Armada. Unfortunately, the sales figures are described as “middling” by analytics company Alinea. According to a report from the website Star field sold a total of 140,000 PS5 copies in its first week, grossing $7.7 million. While that might sound like a positive start for a nearly three-year-old title, Alinea says Bethesda's biggest RPG in nearly a decade should be doing better than it is.
In comparison, the top performing Xbox title released on PlayStation 5 in the last 6 months is Ninja Gaiden 4which has sold 257,000 copies on the platform since its launch in October 2025. This record is closely followed by Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with 245,000 copies, Outer worlds 2 to 160,000 copies and then Star field. Although the outlet describes the numbers as “moderate”, only one week has passed and already more than have been sold Open, Age of Empires 4and South of midnight they did when they arrived on PS5. Star field it's also the fastest-selling Xbox-to-PS5 port in the past six months Ninja Gaiden 4 it sold nearly 100,000 copies in its first 6 days.
However, Star field he has a long way to go if he wants to beat Forza Horizon 5The PlayStation 5 release, which Alinea says has sold a staggering 5.7 million copies to date and generated more than $320 million in gross revenue. Other impressive ports include Gears of War: Reloadedwhich has now sold 1 million copies across all platforms, with 70% of sales on PS5. Then, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle it has now “surpassed the Steam version and is on par with Xbox,” according to the outlet, which reports that about 4 million players have acquired the game on Xbox.
