Activision may have clarified this Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2The PS4 and PS5 versions will be simple ports as opposed to full remasters, but fans have been left excited about their arrival. Unfortunately, Call of Duty: Black Ops fans were less than thrilled with the idea of paying for DLC maps again, a real possibility after some recent store updates.
Before this potential discovery, PlayStation fans were excited at the idea of having access to these beloved gems. While the remaster Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 3 (2023) Classics Collection, Remastered MW2 maps meant that these games lived on through the newer PlayStation consoles, the first two Black Ops games remained isolated. Sure, PC gamers had good access to them, and backwards compatibility meant Xbox users were in the clear, but PlayStation fans? If they wanted to play BO2 or BO1they had to dust off their PS3 consoles. So these ports are long overdue, but the costs associated with them could be very controversial.
Due to the complicated architecture of the PS3, the PS4 was not backwards compatible, which is why BO1 and BO2 they were stuck on old hardware for so long.

It's official: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Kowakujo is set to become one of the best zombie maps ever
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's latest trailer gives Zombies fans every reason to be sure that the Kowakujo map will be an instant classic.
Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 DLC prices have just changed ahead of the big re-release
Although it is important to realize this Activision didn't deal Black Ops 1 and 2 DLC prices so farnor did he clarify the pricing and potential bundling of the games themselves, the timing certainly seems telling. Of all the times DLC prices have changed, dropping them a month before the release of the PS4 and PS5 ports speaks volumes. It is safe to assume that Black Ops fans will have to purchase the slightly cheaper map packs for these classic games again, with the ports only featuring the basic multiplayer and zombie map sets.

As noted in the above Reddit post by user RdJokr93, the prices of the map packs have been reduced from $14.99 to $9.99 on the Steam and Xbox storefronts, presumably to match the cost with the upcoming PlayStation prices. The Black Ops 2 The Season Pass has been reduced from $49.99 to $29.99. This means that to access each map in Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2players may have to pay an additional $70. That's because the original Black Ops lacked a Season Pass, so its four packs will need to be purchased individually. Naturally, players are reacting as one would expect, considering that they will not only have to pay whatever Activision ends up charging for these ports, but potentially the full price of the game in DLC.
The only silver lining with the DLC price cuts is that all camos are bundled Black Ops 2 have gone from being priced at $2 each to being completely free to download. There is also a world where BO2 The Season Pass and possibly individual map packs for both games are discounted as the former has been temporarily on several occasions. This news is particularly unpleasant for fans Cod Zombies mode because Zombies maps could not be purchased individually until BO3. This means that if they want to play popular maps like Mob of the Dead again on PS4 and PS5, they may have no choice but to pay extra.
All of them so far Call of Duty fans can hope that Activision will surprise them and that these DLC price changes are somehow unrelated to the upcoming ports. At least a package containing both Black Ops games and all their DLC would be a healthy middle ground or loyalty discount for those who bought the PS3 versions, although there's no telling if that will happen.
