Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake trailer leaks hours after official announcement

Gaming's worst kept secret has finally been confirmed as Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced was officially announced by Ubisoft yesterday. The worldwide showcase is scheduled for April 23, but it seems that screenshots and footage from the trailer have already been leaked. This isn't surprising considering how much information about the remake has been leaked over the past few months.

On r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, someone shared screenshots along with a ten-second clip from the trailer. Other posts also showcased the same footage from the original version of the game to reveal how much better the visuals are in the Resynced version and they look pretty good.

Among the leaked images are shots of Edward Kenway talking to Blackbeard, a pirate who hides in the shadows as he pursues a kill, and one of them hanging from the Jackdaw and admiring the sea views. The side-by-side comparison is perhaps the best example of how much the visuals have improved.

The ten-second clip shows Kenway and the crew of the Jackdaw engaging in naval warfare with another ship, and it looks absolutely stunning in modern fidelity. Unfortunately, all of these leaks only contain cutscenes, so we still don't know how Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will look and function during gameplay sections.

Remakes and remasters should never replace the original games, and Assassin's Creed: Black Flag is no exception

The rumored Black Flag remaster won't be Black Flag, though it will replace the original on Steam.

There were also rumors that the remake would be adapted to match the RPG era of the series, but these have since been quashed. It will be the same game that made us fall in love with the pirate life, but with better visuals and maybe some minor gameplay tweaks. Unfortunately, it's hard to say anything else for sure at this point, so we'll have to wait for April 23rd or the next leak about the game.

There have also been rumors that the game is scheduled to launch on July 9, 2026. While this is consistent with everything else we've heard over the months, it's likely that the release date will also be confirmed in the next two days.
