One Piece 1180 proves that the Straw Hats need a new upgrade in Elbaph

With the coming of Saint Nero Imu to Elbaf, One piece Chapter 1180 served to provide an explanation when it came to his powerful abilities. Imu Akuma no Mi's power is incredibly deadly, and Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the series, has done a phenomenal job expanding her powers even further, introducing Maki-like powers in the latest chapter. In doing so, Oda also used the Straw Hat Pirates as a means to galvanize the World King, but with how easily Imu dealt with the crew's power, it was incredibly obvious that they were nowhere near ready to fight the World Government under the current situation. To face the most powerful threat in the world One pieceThe Straw Hat Pirates need to get a lot stronger and Oda needs to give them a big upgrade.

How the wiping out of five main characters of Nerona Imu shows that the crew needs much stronger ones

One Piece Chapter 1180 was a shock to many fans because it showed how strong Imu really was. If there was any doubt, Nerona Imu is the strongest character in the world One pieceand the latest proved it beyond doubt. Within seconds, Imu was able to wipe out five powerful individuals in Elbaph. The first to fall to Ima was Gerd, whose fingers were cut off by the king of the world. In the blink of an eye, before she knew it, her fingers were already on the floor and the Saint Sommers she was holding was already freed. Similarly, Hajrudin decided to attack Nero Ima, only to be saved by Stansen, who ended up losing his leg. The third to fall was Hajrudin himself, attacked by Imu's special power known as Maki, which appears to be an evolved form of some kind of Haki.

Zoro, come in! Everyone, gather up the wounded and head to one of the houses! — Chopper, Chapter 1180

Rononoa Zoro, the Straw Hat Swordsman and the second strongest in the crew, attacked Ima with all his might, using the King of Hell: Three Sword Style. Much to the fans' surprise, this attack was effortlessly stopped by the World King, and the swordsman was then left bloodied by a single blow from Imu's Maki. Imu continued his attack by getting rid of Sanji in seconds. Blocking his powerful Ifrit Jambe and countering with a Haki-charged kick of his own, Imu was also able to defeat him completely.

Within seconds, Imu defeated Gerd, Hajrudin, Stansen, Zoro, and Sanji, and together their rewards exceed 2 billion berries. For Imu to be able to do this without using his full power shows how strong he really is, and more than that it shows that the Straw Hats are not yet ready to face the World Government in direct combat.

Why the Straw Hat Pirates have to aim higher than any Yonko crew in the Final Saga

Straw hat Pirates stronger Yonko Crew Final Saga one piece

It is clear that the Straw Pirates are as strong as the Yonko group, but in the context of defeating the World Government and liberating the world, they are not yet at a level where they can even hope to stand up to Imo and his demonic forces. It is for this reason that Eiichiro Oda needs to give each straw hat a lot of power. Starting with Luffy, Oda needs to make sure his Haki goes to the next level and the time limit on Gear 5 is completely gone. Zoro needs to learn how to better control his Conqueror Haki, as well as bring out his own demonic power that stems from Asura. Sanji needs to develop his Devil Kicks even further by infusing them with Conqueror's Haki and becoming even more powerful.

Meanwhile, all the other crew members need to improve in their own ways. At least all crew members need Haki to fight the demonic influence of Imu's powers. More than that, some of them, especially Devil Fruit users, need to push their abilities beyond all limits and trigger Devil Fruit Awakening. This is especially true for Nico Robin.

Even with all these powers awakened, it might not be enough for the Straw Hat Pirates to defeat Imu and the World Government, but at least they can create a more significant threat. If Chapter 1180 is anything to go by, the Straw Hats need to get a new upgrade sooner rather than later, as with each passing chapter, the Great War approaches and Luffy's group must be ready.
