Release, List of cards and more

Even after almost 30 years Pokemon trading card game keeps reinventing itself, and the new Pitch Black set is proof of that. Focusing on Dark-type Pokemon and the main antagonist and Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: BEYOND DLCMega Darkrai, Pitch Black is likely to combine fresh gameplay mechanics, impressive visuals and strategic depth. Not much has been officially confirmed about the set yet, as it is expected to be a close adaptation of the Japanese Abyss Eye set, which has yet to be fully revealed.

The name Pitch Black itself is an homage to Darkrai, as it is referred to as a Pitch-Black Pokémon. With a mix of almost 40 cards, among the unique Pokemon TCG cards dedicated to Darkrai and variants of these cards, this is not the first rodeo for Dark-type Mythical Pokémon. Interestingly though, this is the debut of his Mega Evolution. Building on the current selection of cards revealed for Abyss Eye, Pitch Black focuses on Darkness-type Pokémon and features new cards that reward careful planning and strategic thinking. Unlike previous sets that relied on high damage attacks, Pitch Black seems to encourage players to manipulate energy, disrupt opponents and time their moves perfectly.
