The worst missions in the Grand Theft Auto series have a common denominator and I dread the GTA 6 version

Throughout the game's history, Grand Theft Auto the series was at the forefront of innovative open-world gameplay, and is largely why the franchise has grown to the popularity it is today. Grand Theft Auto 6 it's likely to continue pushing the envelope with its gameplay and open-world mechanics, but not every new feature can be for the better. There is one recurring gameplay mechanic that always frustrates me GTA records they appear in and I really hope so GTA 6 does not follow this series trend.

As the name suggests, vehicles are the main component Grand Theft Auto series and the different types of vehicles players can steal have evolved alongside the franchise. Since then, there have been helicopters in the series GTA 3but became playable only GTA: Vice City. Even though helicopters have become an iconic mode of air transportation, I've always found missions that require helicopters to be some of the most annoying in the world. Grand Theft Autoand GTA 6 he could just as easily have solved my problems with them and he could have made them much more tedious.

The return of the GTA 6 feature leaves players divided

Rumors of the feature's return in Grand Theft Auto 6 are leaving fans divided as to why Rockstar Games left it out of both GTA 4 and GTA 5.

Helicopter missions are always the worst missions in Grand Theft Auto

  • GTA: Vice City — Demolition Man
  • GTA: San Andreas — We are learning to fly
  • GTA: San Andreas — Up, up and away!
  • GTA 4 — Paper trail

One of the first examples of a helicopter mission in A GTA the game comes in form Grand Theft Auto: Vice CityA Demolition Man mission where players have to plant explosives on a construction site using an RC helicopter. While not a full-sized helicopter, it functions very similarly in terms of controls, allowing players to immerse themselves in the series' early helicopter mechanics.

Helicopter missions didn't really become a mainstay of the franchise until GTA: San Andreaswhere players must complete a series of flight tutorials in the Learning to Fly mission, considered one of the hardest missions in GTA series. This mission includes both airplane and helicopter tutorials, but the most frustrating are the helicopter segments where players have to launch missiles from the helicopter and engage ground targets. Later in San Andreasplayers can complete the optional Up, Up and Away! missions in the Las Venturas casino heist task line. The mission also requires precision helicopter flying as players must use a giant magnet hanging from the helicopter to steal the van.

GTA 4Helicopter missions are much more prominent than in the past of the series, with several missions requiring players to navigate Liberty City by air. By far the worst helicopter mission in the GTA 4 is Paper Trail where players must follow and shoot down Eduard Borodin's helicopter in their own helicopter. Even if Little Jacob is actually shooting, keeping the helicopter steady enough to get a shot off can be a headache in itself. This mission is especially difficult on the PC version GTA 4because controlling the helicopter with mouse and keyboard is definitely not optimal.

Why do I always get stuck on helicopter missions

My gripe with helicopter missions Grand Theft Auto is really twofold: fine control and helicopter health. most of the time GTAThe helicopter physics are really counterintuitive and make maneuvering the vehicle the way I want it to feel like I'm fighting the controls. I understand that this is an attempt to be as accurate to real life as possible, but I'd almost rather sacrifice realism in a series like Grand Theft Auto for a simplified helicopter control scheme and flight mechanics.

What makes controlling helicopters frustrating GTA even more annoying is the fact that the vehicle has such low health and can crash easily. For example, the Paper Trail mission v GTA 4 it's all the more challenging to weave between the Algonquin skyscrapers of Liberty City as I desperately try to keep up with Borodin's helicopter. With how hard it is to correct course in a helicopter, I would also end up hitting buildings and crashing because of how quickly the helicopter can be destroyed.

GTA 4 also has one of multiple tank helicopters. Compared to GTA 4helicopter, GTA 5 it makes them feel like they are made of glass.

GTA 6 stands at a crossroads with helicopter missions

Although helicopters are much more fragile, GTA 5 also significantly improved vehicle handling. Now, GTA 6 has a chance to improve helicopters even more, but could end up making them worse if not carefully balanced. If GTA 6 holds the checks GTA 5 while health is more reminiscent of a helicopter GTA 4then it could result in an ideal version of the vehicle. Different helicopters available GTA 5 should also be transferred to GTA 6 to make it the most robust version of the vehicle to date.

Helicopters confirmed for GTA 6 so far they include Buzzard Attack Chopper, Maverick, Police Maverick, Sea Sparrow and SuperVolito.

However, GTA 6 it will walk a fine line with helicopter mechanics that could end up being more cumbersome than useful GTA 5versions if their controls are not properly implemented. With access to the PS5's DualSense controller and its touchpad, Rockstar was able to prepare some unique controls GTA 6's vehicles that require players to use the touchpad. However, this could be a flaw in the helicopter controls, as it could overcomplicate one of the franchise's most challenging control schemes. GTA 6 it's likely to feature at least a few helicopter missions, but trying to get too creative with vehicle controls might just add to the trend GTAmost frustrating mission.
