pc players have a limited time to get the 100% DRM-free version of the 2D platformer completely free. Unfortunately, unlike some giveaways like Steam's Free-to-Keep promotion, there's no specific time frame for this free game giveaway. At least that's how a free game at IndieGala usually works.
For the uninitiated, IndieGala is a digital store similar to Humble Bundle or Fanatical. Each website is a great way to get computer games for cheap, if not completely free. IndieGala has been around since 2011 and offers bundles of indie games and discounted keys, but also provides DRM-free game giveaways. In the past, IndieGala has given away games like Die young and Waka Waka Gaming Club.

Carlos Taco is a bite-sized indie platformer that knows exactly what it is and doesn't pretend to be anything more. It is a colorful, hand-drawn 2D platformer developed by Victoria Games where players step into the skin of a taco. Said taco is on a mission to rescue his kidnapped wife after a wedding day disaster, with the game relying on the absurd storytelling and over-the-top humor that such a statement implies.
Carlos is equipped with powers over the elements such as fire, ice, and earth to defeat his enemies through classic platforming. In many ways, it's a straightforward throwback to classic platformers with solid levels, simple controls, and a short 1-2 hour runtime. This might put some people off, but it's worth pointing out that this free PC game is usually a cheap PC game, and the next best thing to free is cheap.
On Steam, Carlos Taco holds a “Positive” rating after 93% of reviews praised the game. It could be higher, but unfortunately the volume of reviews on Steam is low. With that in mind, players seem to tend to enjoy its art style, lighthearted tone, and its classic platforming gameplay, especially when paired with its standard fare, with some criticizing its short length and basic mechanics. In other words, it might be perfect for someone looking for a fun game to beat in one sitting.

By most accounts Carlos Taco is exactly what it wants to be: a fast, slick and ridiculous platformer experience. IndieGala's free-to-play game only further lowers the barrier. At worst, it's a short curiosity that you uninstall after an hour; at its best, it's a charming indie gem for PC that you'll be glad you didn't miss. Either way, it's hard to argue with the price (well, lack thereof) here.
