Borderlands 4 new official release confirmed for June 25th

Gearbox Software has revealed a bunch of new content that's on the way Borderlands 4with paid and free content coming next week, as well as teasing a second vault hunter DLC known as Loveless, due out in September. 2026 has been a busy year for Gearbox and its so far Borderlands 4 content, as the company released Bounty Pack 2 earlier this year and its first major Story expansion, which features the first post-launch vault hunter called C4SH.

While Borderlands 4 Seemingly off to a fast start after its September 2025 release, one of the main criticisms leveled at the game was the lengthy content and update drought that the Horrors of Kairos mini-event couldn't seem to fill. Coupled with technical issues, player frustration with popular ability nerfs, and declining player numbers, it didn't look great. However, things have seemingly turned around with the revised version Borderlands 4 a post-launch plan that made Bounty Pack 1 arrive not only earlier than expected, but completely free. From there, Gearbox continued to add more content, and players now have even more to look forward to starting next week.

Borderlands 4 releases Zane To Kill For on June 25th

In a new blog post, Gearbox laid out its plans for next week and revealed two major post-launch content updates starting on June 25th. First up is Bounty Pack 3, a paid content pack called A Zane to Kill For that takes players into the digital realm to find out who killed Zane's Digi-Clone. As the trailer reveals, players will explore a neon noir-style city using Zane's personal arcade machine called Private Dick, battling new Glitched enemies who can switch places during battle to keep the Vault Hunter on their toes.

Of course, players will have plenty of things to chase in this content as well. Bounty Pack 3 features a brand new pearl weapon and 6 new pieces of legendary loot along with Vault Hunter skins, a vehicle and cosmetics for ECHO-4. The Bounty Pack also continues the Vault card system Borderlands 4which allows players to complete challenges and earn cosmetics and 4 “re-rollable” pieces of legendary gear.

A day later, on June 26, Borderlands 4 will release a free content update called Takedown at Hadron Abyss. This is designed as an end game challenge, similar to Borderlands 4's Bloomreaper the Invincible raid. However, in this content, players will explore a new zone called the Hadron Abyss, a submerged laboratory that is slowly decaying and is home to the zone's boss, the Child of Terramorphous. There will be no farming locations and spawning locations are few and far between, so players will have to work together to overcome Borderlands 4hardest content yet. Naturally, there are plenty of new weapons and gear to chase, and for those who want even more of a challenge, there are different levels of challenges that can be activated to increase the health and damage of enemies.

Additionally, version 1.8 allows players to purchase DLC in two different ways. Instead of an all-or-nothing approach, Borderlands 4 players can purchase Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For separately from DLC Vault Card 3. Both are priced at $5.99 each, and Gearbox intends to do this for future DLC packs as well. Gearbox is also looking into a similar method for previously released Borderlands 4 DLC, but no concrete plans yet.

However, these two pieces of content weren't the only big reveal. Much like Gearbox revealed C4SH almost 6 months in advance Borderlands 4the studio also revealed a second character after launch. Loveless, Hacker is set to launch alongside Story Pack 2 in September, and according to Gearbox, she's a former Anshin hacker turned assassin. While details are still a little thin, Loveless has a kit that includes cybernetic-style weapons as well as a digital worm-like virus that he shares his mind with. Overall, it sounds like Loveless will offer fans plenty of variety when it launches in a few months.
