How to beat Bastion in Saros

At the end of each biome in Sarosyou will find a powerful and deadly boss. These creatures present breathtaking boss battles with multiple stages that will demand your best. They act as blocks to your progression and story, so you'll need all the help you can get to defeat them. The second boss you'll find is Bastion.

Bastion is the Lord of the Ancient Deeps and is a machine capable of throwing millions of projectiles in a variety of ways. Let's go over some basic strategies and tips to beat Bastion as cleanly as possible in Saros.

How to beat Bastion

First phase

Saros Bastion Boss Guide (5)

Before the battle begins, you'll notice that the arena is large, with jump pods in the middle and two platforms on the sides above you. Our recommendation is: they mostly move around the center of the arena, always shooting Bastion — if you go under the floating platforms, you'll notice that the floor activates and fires lasers.

Basta can charge up corrupted energy and fire a laser beam at you. As soon as you see it coming, dash to the side because you can't avoid it just by running away from it. The beam will last for a few seconds and around it there will be blue projectiles that you can absorb with your shield.

We don't recommend wasting time catching these projectiles as you may end up too close to the yellow beam.

Another attack is sent dozens of yellow projectiles in a certain shape. These are homing projectiles, so you have to dash to the sides to avoid them (you can also insult them, which is a bit riskier).

As he heads for the floor, Bastion can fire two large projectiles, one yellow and one blueor two with the same color. These will create walls of these projectiles, so you'll either have to use your shield (blue projectiles) or blast through them (yellow).

This move is repeated three times, so prepare your reactions for the incoming wave. Alternatively, you can use jump pods to jump over them.

When Bastion fires a laser at the ground, it will create shockwaves that cover the entire arena. Some are thin and you can easily jump over them, but others are taller, so you should use jump pods for extra safety (you can jump through them too!).

Finally, Bastion fires a wall of blue and yellow projectiles, but from a higher angleso it kind of covers the whole arena. This is a good chance to get to the blue projectiles and absorb them with your shield so you recharge your Force.

The second phase

Saros Bastion Boss Guide (10)

Whenever you complete a stage, Bastion will momentarily leave the battle and spawn a few regular enemies. Deal with them to continue the battle.

When you clear the room, the second phase will start. The boss starts shooting group of yellow homing projectileswhich you should avoid by running around them when they are about to hit you. This will be repeated twice in a row.

Another new step is “galaxy” of blue projectiles: Bastion will shoot a lot of balls everywhere. They won't come to you, but they will stay for a few secondsand the enemy will continue to attack. You should activate your shield, clear a small area around you, and be ready to dodge whatever comes next.

The rest of the phase will involve the first's attacks with only one key change: two balls that become obstacles can now be redwhich is the type of projectile that you cannot shield absorb or pierce. When you see this, you will need to move to the blue or yellow side of the wall (if there is one) or jump using the jump pods.

The third phase

Saros Bastion Boss Guide (15)

After the second and final wave of minions (who may have shields that you'll need to hit this time), there's the final phase of the battle… and it's pretty much a mix of the previous two, with no new moves. We did notice that creating walls of missiles fired more red balls, but that's about it.

When you finish the fight, you will unlock new Matrix Armor upgrades and a new biome: Shattered Descent.

Saros: How long does it take to hit?

If you were hoping that Saros would be longer than Returnal, then you're in luck. It is! But be prepared for twice as many deaths.
