007 First Light is only three weeks away. That is, unless you plan to play the new James Bond game on the Nintendo Switch 2. First Light was supposed to be released on the Switch 2 on May 27th, the same day it arrives on other platforms, but its launch has been pushed back to the summer. But don't worry, this won't be another Borderlands 4 situation.
First Light doesn't follow the same path as Borderlands 4
This promise comes directly from IO Interactive's CEO, Hakan Abrak. Abrak talked all things First Light on The Game Business this week, including its Switch 2 delay. The CEO was asked if there was any chance the new Bond game would “make Borderlands 4,” a situation Abrak was blissfully unaware of until now.

007 First Light is James Bond should be considered for the movies, says Co-Star
Light's first Bond, Patrick Gibson, should be considered for a role in the films, according to his fellow actor.
“What did Borderlands 4 do?” Abrak responded, prompting Game Business host Christopher Dring to explain that its Switch 2 version had been delayed and had since disappeared. “No, no, no. It runs on Switch 2,” Abrak confirmed. “We just want to make sure it's as good as it can be. I don't want to hear that it wasn't a good version. To be completely honest, we need a little more time to get it where we want it.”
Unlike Borderlands 4, first light on the Switch 2 has not been delayed indefinitely
Unlike Borderlands 4, First Light's Switch 2 edition has not been delayed indefinitely. Its release has been pushed back to the summer, although Abrak admitted that those waiting for it shouldn't expect it until “late summer”. First Light pre-orders on Switch 2 also remain unaffected, while those who bought the game on Switch 2 were given immediate refunds when it was hit with a delay.
Abrak spoke to GoldenEye and the special relationship Bond games have with Nintendo consoles, explaining why he and the team at IO want First Light to be as good as it can be before releasing it on Switch 2. It'll mean you'll have to wait a bit longer for it, but better a great version of the game a few months after launch than a bad one three weeks from now.
As for Borderlands 4, with every passing day that we don't get an update, it's more likely that Gearbox will try to pretend that they never announced that the game was coming to Switch 2. It's a rather bizarre situation, since it was almost the day of release that the game was unceremoniously pulled from Nintendo's platform. Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford also praised the Switch 2 version. He might end up being one of the few people in the world to have ever played it, and honestly, part of me thinks Pitchford played as much Borderlands 4 on Switch 2 as the rest of us.
