After the huge success of the original game, By this developer Crema launched another project called Temtem: Swarm to completely change the principles of the monster collecting game and is now gathering thousands of supporters on Kickstarter with its new Theme: Pioneers. While By this is one of the best Pokemon– like the games out there, support for them ended after the team delivered all the big updates they envisioned for the title. It's still playable and even has online features, but it no longer receives active updates. Enter a new one Theme: Pioneersa project that launched on Kickstarter with a goal of around $100,000, only to approach the $500,000 milestone.
Less than 48 hours left to support Theme: Pioneers on Kickstarter right now, but fans can get the game for around $30 if they're willing to skip all the fancy Kickstarter extras and the playable alpha when it drops. Still, this is slated for a public release in 2028, so it could be a long wait without an alpha upgrade. With survival in the original game, Theme: Pioneers caters to a different player base, while retaining its charming critters and monster-trapping gameplay loop. For By this however, fans will be able to explore the so-called Downbelow for the first time.

Temtem: Pioneers is Survival Meets Monster Taming in the Downbelow
In the original By thisplayers adventured across six islands in the Air Archipelago, often boarding a ship called the Narwhal to hop from one location to another. IN Theme: Pioneersthe premise is that the Narwhal crashed on Downbelow, which is basically the game's land-based part of the world that doesn't float in the air like the Airborne Archipelago. This is a largely unexplored area that the people of the Airborne Archipelago often fear because they know very little about it and it's so deep below their floating islands, but it will be the main setting in the new game.
Theme: Pioneers is very successful on Kickstarter right now, and its developer is sharing more information about the game and its pets. The Downbelow will play a vital role in the survival monster hunting title for several reasons:
-
Unlike By thiswhere Tems are found in the tall grass as Pokémon, they will appear all over the world Theme: Pioneersmaking the various Downbelow biomes important in determining what kinds of creatures will be available there.
-
Two of the completed stretch goals for Theme: Pioneers were biomes — Crystal Biome and Dark Forest Biome, with crystals and mental darkness.
-
-
Normally you have to collect and manage resources in survival games and you can do it in the section below Theme: Pioneers. Resources can depend on progression and biomech.
-
You can explore Downbelow by walking and running, but you can also use mounts as companions as you traverse, as they will be Temt themselves.
-
The themes found in Dowbelow are not the same as those in the Air Archipelago. By thisDigital items aren't available in this new game, but there are a few new items you can find and collect at the bottom to make up for it.
-
In Downbelow, you'll have to defeat bosses to gain access to new areas and rare materials. They will be similar to Alpha Pokemon Pokemon Legends: ZA in terms of concept, because they are bigger than regular Temas, more aggressive and powerful.
- Theme: Pioneers is still a monster taming game at its core, so you'll be able to explore Downbelow and collect resources with themes at your side to help you fight wild themes and collect materials faster.
Temtem: Pioneers' proper name is due to the fact that you'll be playing as a survivor of the narwhal crash in Downbelow and exploring it for the first time. So your character is a Downbelow pioneer.

Downbelow is essentially an entirely new area for the series that was mentioned several times in the original game but never explored by players or NPCs. You can usually build your base in survival games and Theme: Pioneers is no exception, with the proviso that the base will be built somewhere in the Downbelow rather than the Airborne Archipelago, which will remain inaccessible in this game.
