Marvel first dressed some of its most iconic characters in swimsuits in the early 1990s, and after a 30-year absence, the swimsuit special has been revived with a little help from Marvel Rivals. The Marvel Snap mobile card game wants to get in on the action now, as swimsuit variant cards, along with matching comic book covers, are coming this summer.
Swimwear is coming to Marvel Snap
Marvel confirmed the news on their website and shared a first look at the card/comic book covers that will be in Marvel Snap and on comic book shelves later this year. There are eight in total, all starring various Marvel characters from across the multiverse, and all female.

Marvel Rivals falls to mixed reviews regarding matchmaking and performance issues
Recent Steam reviews for Marvel Rivals have been mixed, with complaints about how the game handles growing file sizes.
The eight heroes selected for swimming Marvel Snap are Magik, Gwenpool, Wolverine (Laura Kinney X-23 version), Mystique, Sister Grimm, Hope Summers, Enchantress and Psylocke. Not only does Snap pull from Rivals by continuing to revive Marvel in swimsuits, but the inclusion of characters like Magik and Psylocke also comes off the back of Rivals, as their inclusion on the hero roster made them much more mainstream than they were before.
The artwork is by veteran artist InHyuk Lee, who has been creating covers for Marvel since 2013. No release date has been given for the comic, nor has the swimsuit variants been added to Snap, just that both will be available this summer.
There's a chance the cards are only a few weeks away from coming to Snap. The Marvel Snap period only lasts for a month and usually starts on the first Monday of each month. This means we can see Gwenpool, Wolverine and the rest of the swim cards appearing in the game as early as June 1st.
The swimsuit returned to the Marvel Multiverse last year via Rivals
Swimsuit skins were added to Marvel Rivals last summer and, as expected, they were incredibly popular. Unlike Snap, Rivals puts some of its male characters in more revealing clothing, though I suppose if Snap's swimsuit-themed season is a hit, we might eventually see it in the card game.
That is, if we get much more Snaps at all. It's been a few years since its seemingly hugely successful release, but interest in the mobile title seems to have waned somewhat. It was only a few days ago that the Snap Second Dinner studio announced layoffs. A swimsuit season and a comic book crossover could be an idea used to get people to play again. However, variants will likely cost in-game currency. Players returning currency will have to work.
