It's been a while, but ever since Rocksteady finally bit the bullet and ended the life of the perpetually cheesy Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, there's been talk of exactly what the studio would be working on next. It's pretty clear that her live-action ambitions have failed miserably, so a return to the single-player Batman games that she's actually good at would make sense.
And according to reports, that's exactly what Rocksteady apparently plans to do. A 2025 report by Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier claims that Rocksteady is “looking to revisit Batman for a single-player game” but that it would be “years” away from release. Shortly after, a Rocksteady job posting seeking a director with experience in “third-person action, melee, and open-world games” appeared to support this report.
Rocksteady won't be taking Batman any further
If Rocksteady goes back to Batman, then you have to wonder how exactly the Arkham series will continue, since Bruce Wayne was either blown up or faked his death, depending on your interpretation. It's possible we'll see someone else on the head, but one rumor that surfaced recently suggested that Rocksteady is planning to adapt Batman Beyond.

Rocksteady deserves better than a new Batman game
After ten years, Rocksteady is reportedly returning to Batman.
It would be an interesting decision and give Rocksteady a little more creative freedom, but I wouldn't be too excited about the prospect just yet. The rumor was discussed on ResetEra earlier this week, with Schreier himself joining the discussion to shoot the idea down completely. He literally just says “Faaaaaake.”
To be honest, most people who are chronically online would see this leak as coming from 4chan, so its legitimacy is incredibly unlikely, but you get the rare 4chan leak that is correct when a blue moon comes around. That being said, it's nice to have a respected insider actually dismiss the idea outright, and while we know a single-player Batman game is likely in the works, it won't be Beyond.
