Adaptations are just one of many ways to learn to survive and adapt to the alien planet you find yourself on. Subnautica 2. Adaptations are genetic mutations your body undergoes that allow it to take on foreign traits, such as the ability to eat and digest the local strange marine life.
You'll be introduced to this concept right from the start, as one of the first things NoA will ask you to do when you wake up is to use the nearby Angel Comb to unlock the ability to breathe highly compressed air. From then on, all the other mods you can unlock follow the same method, only you'll have to find the Angel Combs yourself.
Subnautica 2 is currently in early access. Because of this, you'll see six tweaks in the menu, but the bottom two haven't been formally added yet and remain unknown.
All Angel Crest locations
At the moment, there are four customizations you can unlock in Subnautica 2, including the one you get in the tutorial. You can see them listed on the Adaptation tab in the in-game menubut you will only see the ones you have unlocked in the list.
This means there are only three Angel Combs you'll need to track down, but it's not as easy as it sounds. The last two Angel Combs will be infected and you will need two different tools to clean them before you can unlock their customization.
One unlocks thermal adaptation and requires you to do it clear two Bloom nodes of infectious Canker Blooms. To do this, you'll need to use the Sonic Resonator to detonate them. Another Angel Comb that requires a similar process is the one that unlocks Axum Vision, but this one will have three nodes to clear, each with two Canker Blooms that infect it.
You'll know the knot has been cleaned if it starts to open. If all nodes have been deleted, there may also be some remaining Canker Blooms near the main Angel Comb you have to clean up. If everything has been cleared, the Angel Ridge should open. If not, you missed something.
Unfortunately, The Canker Blooms on the last Angel Comb are not the same as the ones you cleared before and closes if you approach them. So to clean them up you will need the Feedback Resonator upgrade for the Sonic Resonatorwhich is created at the Modification Station. This allows you to shoot them from a distance before they have a chance to close.
If you're having trouble, following the purple Titan Rockbore vines sticking out of Angel Comb is an easy way to find Nodes.
With all that in mind, here they are the locations of all Angel Combs currently in play, as well as their nodes if they have them.
