The Guardian of Minerva is the first main boss you have to fight Romestead and defeating the giant owl is critical to your progress. The location of the nest is marked on your minimap with a large owl face icon with glowing red eyes.
Head there, destroy the eggs, defeat the boss, collect the loot, and complete the quest to free Minerva – the goddess, which will unlock several new useful buildings and tools. However, this boss is not to be messed with and is quite strong for you to deal with early on. This guide describes how to prepare for battle.
How to run Guardian Of Minerva Fight
You will receive the Guardian of Minerva quest soon after completing the first tutorial quests. Even if your map shows an owl icon, I still wouldn't go ahead and bother. You will need to prepare.
When I fought the Guardian, I already had a set of basic leather armor equipped aa copper crossbow ready to go. i had lots of flint arrows and some health potions I found while exploring dungeons around the map.
I specifically wanted to build a ranger, but you could do that with melee alternatives or even pilum (spears you can throw.)
Once you're ready, head to the icon on the map that shows the owl's head. Make sure it's morning or you'll be harassed by other enemies trying to fight the giant owl at night.
Destroy the eggs in the nest and the boss will appear.
Guardian Of Minerva Boss Battle Guide
I relied solely on patience and arrows beat the owl The bird has some great attacks to watch out for.
Peck's attack
Watch out for the Guardian raising its head and attacking. Peck does a lot of damage and is a pretty fast attack. The best solution is to keep your distance from the bird.
Flying attack
Guardian sometimes flaps its wings. This means he is preparing for a flying attack: it travels a long distance in the air and then slams into the ground.
Storm phase
When you get the boss to three quarters of its life total, the Guardian will transform into a storm phase. It will now include electric attacks as he slams into the ground, pecks at you, or covers the arena with thunder strikes.
Be patient and peck (pardon the pun) away from the boss with your arrows. Always use the dashboard to avoid damage.
You will be rewarded after defeating the Guardian of Minerva Guardian's Eye (which can be dropped off at the altar to complete the quest), as well as some feathers and claws. Special Feathered armor can be made from these, or used at the nest to respawn the boss which allows you to farm some materials.
