Phantom Blade Zero comes on PlayStation and PC later than expected after being pushed back to October 29, 2026. While the delay is relatively small, it moves the upcoming PlayStation exclusive closer to Grand Theft Auto 6 at a time when many other releases are trying to avoid Rockstar's launch window.
Phantom Blade Zero was originally announced during the PlayStation Show 2023 in May. The upcoming game, developed by Beijing-based studio S-GAME, is an action RPG rooted in wuxia, a fictional genre centered on the adventures of martial artists across ancient China. In December 2025, S-GAME announced that its latest title would launch on September 9, 2026.
Phantom Blade Zero Delayed for polishing
Two years after its original announcement, Phantom Blade Zero was released in June 2026 at the PlayStation State of Play showcase, which featured a new teaser for the game. The 65-second video showcased several action-packed fight sequences and promised more details to follow this summer. Separately, S-GAME announced that the game has been delayed to October 29, 2026. CEO and game director Liang “Soulframe” Qiwei cited extra polish as the main reason for the 50-day delay. While the action RPG has been in the debugging stage for some time, Liang said he identified a final opportunity for the project to “take another meaningful leap forward” during the process. However, taking advantage of this meant approving the newly confirmed delay.
Phantom Blade ZeroThe original and now amended release date was announced during The Game Awards 2025. The June 2026 State of Play preview marked the game's first new public appearance since then. S-GAME said its plans for summer 2026 include sharing another full-length trailer and launching Phantom Blade Zero pre-orders for PlayStation 5 and PC. No official price has been announced, although the wuxia ARPG is expected to launch with the standard price of $69.99, which is now common among AAA releases. At least one deluxe edition Phantom Blade Zero also seems possible, based on S-GAME's usual publishing practices.
