007 First Light confirms the first DLC story mission

At Summer Game Fest, IO Interactive revealed the first year of planned content 007 First Lightwhich brings back Lenny Kravitz's character Bawma in a brand new mission. It's been an impressive couple of weeks 007 First Light as the game not only garnered a lot of positive reviews from critics and fans, but apparently sold very well to help put the Bond franchise back on the map after a series of uneven releases.

It's an interesting time for 007 First Lightas the game turned out to be a huge success for IO Interactive, who took over both the development and publishing sides. However, this success could prove to be a double-edged sword, as new James Bond IP holder Amazon could be planning to step in. 007 First Light occurred before Amazon bought the IP, the company had already started talking about the future of the series and confirmed that any future games or potential First Light the sequel will be handled by MGM and “theoretically Amazon Game Studios”. What this means for IO Interactive is anyone's guess, but so far it seems to have a bright future 007 First Light fans.

007 First Light Year 1 DLC Plans

IO Interactive joined the Summer Game Fest to reveal its post-launch plans 007 First Lightwhich includes rich content for players. In addition to new features like New Game+ and a dedicated Photo Mode, IO has confirmed the first post-launch mission coming to the game, which sees the return of Lenny Kravitz's Bawma in Mauritania. While not as popular as many probably thought after the character was announced in December, Bawma may finally be getting more attention with this DLC. The leader of a pirate nation enlists the help of MI6 and leads James Bond back into the lion's den to help deal with a sensitive matter.

However, 1 new mission is just the tip of the iceberg of what fans can expect. Director of Missions Dominic Vega presented the team's full plans for next year, including expansion 007 First LightTacSim game mode with new missions, challenges and maps. One in particular had the player battling in the Q-Lab, while another saw the player racing a special vehicle through the roads of Slovakia. The Pearl level, set in Vietnam, will also have a new villain taking over the resort where players will have to use their wits to defeat the threat in time.

Q Lab is also adding a new pair of glasses, the G2 gadget. IO hasn't been quite ready to reveal what they'll be doing, only teasing that they'll open up new gameplay opportunities and continue to bolster new creative freedom. There will also be new opportunities to use game vehicles in new ways. Fans looking for additional rewards should circle October 5th on their calendars, as the schedule even features a James Bond Day reward.

The trailer also dealt with a delayed version of the Nintendo Switch 2 007 First Lightwhich confirms it's still coming and will launch sometime in the first year. Unfortunately, this release was delayed until the summer of 2026, with little detail on how it would play out, leaving fans a little worried. However, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak continued to talk about the Switch 2 version, confirming that Bond has a special place at Nintendo and that he will do everything in his power to make sure the version is in great shape.
