After months if not years of speculation, another Resident Evil The remake has finally shown its face, and as many suspected, it's none other than CODE: Veronika. This time, Capcom dropped the first part of the title, but still tries to keep the original as much as possible, from the setting to the characters to the story that ties it all together. The first trailer is very similar Requiem debut, where we really only get a few glimpses of what's in store, without too much gameplay or major details about what exactly the game entails.

The 18 Scariest Resident Evil Games, Ranked
Capcom's Resident Evil is the definitive horror franchise, but the games aren't all that scary. RE7, Village, RE4 and Requiem are the best candidates.
However, from what we know and what has been explicitly revealed, there is still enough to get the hype going early. Purely based on the insane track record the franchise has had over the past few years, it's safe to say that we're in for an absolute treat, especially considering how highly rated and beloved the original CODE: Veronika is among the stubborn ones Resident Evil fans. So whether you've played a classic and are excited to see it with a new coat of paint, or a new player ready to experience a much older story with a new coat of paint, the wait for Resident Evil Veronica it's almost over.
Story
Beyond The City Outbreak
-
The storyline between Claire and Chris is reworked.
-
Disaster after Raccoon City.
The Resident Evil the series isn't exactly known for its exceptional storytelling, but that doesn't mean there haven't been some pretty compelling stories told throughout it. In case Veronicawe find ourselves in a post-Raccoon City world where Clair is now searching for her missing brother Chris, yet it's clear that remnants of evil still lurk in the shadows.
Umbrella is back and up to its old tricks, testing new technologies that, as always, are going south pretty darn fast. It's safe to say that the story will stick fairly close to the original. However, Capcom has already mentioned that there will be some revamped elements in the narrative. One thing is certain: we will experience the dark side of the universe in a much more dramatic and spectacular way than ever before.
Gameplay
Modern games require modern systems
-
It seems to lean more towards horror than action.
-
Modernized gameplay style in line with other remakes.
From a gaming perspective, details for Veronica they are rare at the moment, but the list of mechanics and systems is never that long anyway. Based on what we've shown so far, as well as other publicly available information, the game will be very familiar to the other remakes and modern releases in the series, with the main difference between the original and the new version being the modernized playstyle that makes the action that much more compelling.

The 13 Best Resident Evil Characters, Ranked
The Resident Evil games are full of memorable characters. These are the best RE characters from the entire series.
More specifically, though, the graphics seem to have jumped quite a bit since then Requiem. It's also clear that there will be multiple viewpoints throughout the experience, at least during specific cutscenes, adding further immersion to the already intense gameplay. I was excited about the new style Resident Evil that we've seen in the last decade and I think this installment will be another way for Capcom to showcase their talent in the world of horror.
Settings
An umbrella has its place everywhere
-
France and Rockfort Island.
-
Isolated settings with lots of variety.
There are two sides Resident Evil coin. Some take you around the world to Africa, Asia or the US, while others are a more solid experience that usually takes place in a few specific locations. IN Veronicawe venture first to France, then to Rockfort Island, a prison in the middle of the ocean that serves as the perfect place to conduct nefarious experiments and also to hide several captives.
What begins as a bleak detention center quickly descends into chaos when a biological outbreak transforms the island into an apocalyptic battlefield full of abandoned barracks, underground laboratories, and gothic structures harboring dark secrets that you'll have to uncover bit by bit. I much prefer these smaller locations that are more bespoke and I think based on all the different areas seen in the original there's plenty of room to make the island feel even more expansiveclaustrophobic at the same time.

Platforms
A long way from the Dreamcast
-
PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2.
-
Not a word about other platforms like iOS or VR.
Many games and franchises have recently found their way to specific consoles and platforms, locking many players behind a wall of exclusivity that in some cases never really falls. Fortunately, Capcom has stayed as broad as possible over the years Resident Evilallowing most gamers access to their games, whether they're playing on a high-end gaming PC or from the comfort of their couch.

Every bully in Resident Evil
The Tyrant is one of the most famous enemies in Resident Evil, and various versions of him have appeared in games, movies, and TV series.
This trend continues here, e.g Veronica will be playable at launch on Xbox Series, PS5, Switch 2 and PC. In case RE4you can actually play the entire game on iOS, as well as there being a VR version, so only time will tell if Claire fares as well as Leon in her solo mission.
Release date
When will we welcome Claire?
-
2027 planned release date.
-
Expectation RE9 DLC in between.
It's like any other gaming event, we are gifted with a Resident Evil game announcements, and unlike many other debuts, they almost always come with a specific release date or window. Although it would be nice to know exactly when Veronica drops, for now we only have 2027 left to go, which is quite a wide range, but still much earlier than many expected.
Because RE9 DLC is still on the way, it's safe to assume we'll see this drop at some point between now and release Veronicaeither late 2026 or early 2027. I, for one, am all for a much faster release schedule, and if the quality stays as high as it has been, then we may very well continue to see bangers from Capcom year after year for the foreseeable future.

Resident Evil's most brutal death
Resident Evil is full of gritty, crazy, hilarious, and downright disgusting death sequences that helped shape its legacy.
