Lords of the Fallen 2 has been pushed back from 2026, developer-publisher CI Games confirmed. However, the official explanation for the change offers some reason for optimism, in part because of this Lords of the Fallen 2 it already has a new release window that isn't too far from its previous target.
CI Games first mentioned their Soul sequel in a June 2024 investor report, which still referred to the game by the generic codename “Project 3”. More than a year has passed before the official Lords of the Fallen 2 revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2025. The RPG was announced with a 2026 release window, which the Polish studio later narrowed down to the fourth quarter of the year. As ambitious software projects often show, launch goals set more than a few months in advance are inherently tentative, with many variables still in play. Lords of the Fallen 2 has now become the last testimony to this reality, as it has just been set aside.

Lords of the Fallen 2 rescheduled for Q1 2027
News of the delay came directly from CI Games founder and CEO Mark Tyminski. The executive announced the change in plan in a June 23 social media post, stating that Lords of the Fallen 2 now plans to launch in Q1 2027. Tyminski cited the extra polish as the main reason for the shift. While this explanation is common across the industry, developers don't always explain what it means in practice. Tyminski offered additional context, saying that the studio's internal testers identified some improvement opportunities worth pursuing that could not be addressed within the original release window.
The original target of Q4 2026 offered far fewer release date options for LotF2
Although CI Games never narrowed its original release target to more than three months, the Q4 launch timing is often more predictable than most. This is especially true for games with bigger budgets, especially in the year that has the first major series Grand Theft Auto launch of the game in 13 years planned for November. The GTA 6 The effect has already helped turn September 2026 into one of the busiest release months in years, while leaving much of the calendar around Rockstar's November 19 launch remarkably quiet. December has also historically been a lighter month for major game releases, as publishers targeting the holiday shopping season are usually much better off launching in mid-November at the latest. Combined, these factors made October the most realistic month by far Lords of the Fallen 2 coming in below CI Games' previous target of Q4 2026.
With the Polish studio devoting more time to polishing, his other soulslikes have moved to a much less crowded part of the calendar, where the competition is likely to be less intense. Tyminski acknowledged this in his latest statement, calling the new window a strategic choice rather than a lucky coincidence of missed deadlines.
