Xbox Game Pass adds Day-One Co-Op game to "very positive" reviews

Abyss is now available at Xbox Game Passwhich joins as the first addition to its console catalog and another title for the PC library. This is the 16th game to hit the service in June 2026, and the 108th Xbox Game Pass release since the start of the year.

Developed by DoubleMoose Games based in Sweden, Abyss is a roguelite first-person shooter set in a sunken civilization full of deadly inhabitants. In addition to firearms, players can wield various magical spells, including elemental attacks, as they explore its procedurally generated levels either solo or in teams of up to four. This combination of shooting, magic and naval world building makes Abyss an example of the so-called “brinepunk” genre, a seafaring view of steampunk.

Abyssus Lands on Xbox Game Pass along with its console debut

Originally released as a PC exclusive in August 2025, Abyss came to consoles and Xbox Game Pass on June 25, 2026. Roguelite FPS is available on three tiers of Microsoft's services: Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass. It is the second title from publisher The Arcade Crew to hit the platform in 2026, following the roguelite puzzler. Drop Spirits landed on Xbox Game Pass in January.

What critics are saying about Abyssus

Abyss It received mostly positive reviews upon release, as reflected in its “Fair” rating on OpenCritic, with an average score of 72 and more than one in two critics recommending it on average. It was primarily praised for its setting and core gameplay, although some reviewers took issue with its weapon variety, or lack thereof. On Steam, Abyss has nearly 3,000 “very positive” user reviews as of the end of June 2026.

Abyss adds to Xbox Game Pass' ever-evolving co-op library, but is also fully playable solo. The console and Xbox Game Pass launch coincides with Update 1.3, a free content offering that introduces new enemy mobs, bosses, areas, and blessings, among other news. It also makes matchmaking easier, including through a new quick play option.
