Overwatch launches Venture's Excavation Initiative Event with 17 loot boxes to find

Fans can claim these rewards by simply logging in Overwatch and win one game a day for three days in a row to complete a “dig” and get one loot box, essentially giving players two loot boxes per week for the most dedicated players. For players who really want to go the extra mile, Blizzard is offering an Epic Loot Box to anyone who completes four digs this season, and a Legendary Loot Box for fans who complete six digs by the end of the season. There is still time for fans who would like to participate in the Venture Excavation Initiative event OverwatchSeason 3 August 11, 2026 to get as many Loot Boxes as possible.

OverwatchThe new Venture-themed event isn't the only thing players should look forward to at the start of the season. Right now, the hero shooter is holding its Anima Strike Event until July 6, giving players the chance to earn up to 18 loot boxes, 3 epic loot boxes, and 3 legendary loot boxes while completing challenges on the new Neon Junction map set in Tokyo. Moreover, from June 30 Overwatch is launching a Community Crafted Arcade event that will change the way some heroes play. And to kick off a great season of content, the latest Overwatch the hero has arrived.

When it comes to new heroes, Overwatch introduced a very interesting character this season that may make fans want to tune in again. OverwatchHero 52 is revealed to be a DPS character who rides a motorcycle and holds a pistol and is named Shion. Shion is practically a one woman storm on a bike who can zigzag behind enemy lines to gain an advantage. Fan reception to the new character has been incredibly positive, with some fans on Reddit even saying it's the best character Blizzard has released in a long time.

Right now, Overwatch it's in a good place, and Series 3 seems to be doing a lot of things right. Developer communication is at the best it's been in a while, while in-game events and character releases seem right for fans. If recently Overwatch Hero breakouts have to be seen to be seen, with some very interesting characters coming to the hero shooter soon too, meaning there will be plenty more to celebrate in the coming months as the game continues its year of redemption.
