Stardew Valley Dev provides an official development update on Haunted Chocolatier

Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe has released an official update on the development of his next game, Haunted Chocolatieralthough fans who followed the game closely won't know much. ConcernedApe's update, which prefers to serve “fully baked bread” instead of “half-baked bread”, is more of a confirmation of continued development on Haunted Chocolatier than anything new (screenshots, features, etc.).

It's also worth noting that ConcernedApe and a small team of developers are also working on it Stardew ValleyUpdate 1.7, which introduces a new farm type and two new romances in Clint and Sandy, among other things. ConcernedApe previously suggested that the overlap between working on the two games could have an impact Haunted Chocolatier's progress a little, but not nearly as much as some people might think. He has also been open about being a perfectionist in the past, which is reiterated here.

New Haunted Chocolatier development update

According to the latest update on ConcernedApe's official website Haunted Chocolatier blog, opened the new post by saying, “Yeah. I'm still working on the game,” before explaining how it “feels kind of silly” how many times he's written it. After all, the post itself is called “Still Here, Still Emerging…” and touched on how he puts a lot of thought into every aspect of the game to make things perfect. as he said

“I know it's taking a long time. A big part of it is that I'm very thoughtful about every aspect of the game. The things in the game that the player will interact with or use very often have to be 'perfect'.” It must be seamless, clear, intuitive, satisfying, aesthetic.”

However, he did touch on what he has been focusing on lately, which is the recipe book for making chocolates in the upcoming game. It's a core aspect of the game and UI fans will see it all the time, so he talked about how he agonized over the details: the clicks required, the amount of data given, the way the day is laid out and grouped, how it looks aesthetically, and so on. Because Haunted Chocolatier is a big game, he says there are “so many things to worry about,” which is “what it's going to take to make a game I'm happy with.”

the haunted world of chocolate will be bigger than the valley of stardew

As a small final note, he explained that this iterative and perfection-seeking process is also why there are no more Haunted Chocolatier screenshots or features/systems revealed. As with all games, things change quickly in development, so he doesn't want to reveal them too early to avoid raising expectations and risking disappointment. It's probably not the update ConcernedApe fans were looking forward to, but it's certainly understandable, and communication of any kind is always appreciated.

In the meantime, there are plenty of other games to play Stardew Valley is always a solid option. There are also a lot of farming sims out there Stardew Valleyif players are looking for a new treat before diving into it Haunted Chocolatiereventually.
