The 5 Most Powerful Final Fantasy Characters You've Never Heard Of, Ranked

Everyone knows Cloud, Sin and Lightning, but some of them most overwhelmed Final Fantasy characters are found in spin-offs, sequels, remasters and forgotten gems. If someone hasn't played everything the Square Enix franchise has to offer, they've almost certainly missed out on at least a few villains or creatures that can destroy planets or worse. Forget Sephiroth or Clive, let's focus on a few characters who never really shine despite having more than enough power to stand up to any of the main heroes or even the villains. These Final Fantasy the characters are real monsters, at least in the lore.

I'm only talking about the lore and not the battle mechanics because the two don't always match.

Some people definitely know these characters too, but they're all obscure and don't get as much love or respect.

Shuyin is a vengeful spirit with planetary level energy

The power of love, sadness and hate

• The main villain

• It nearly destroys Spira

Square Enix almost never releases direct sequels, but the developer made an exception Final Fantasy 10-2. To be honest, the game is pretty divisive, with the story almost going the magical girl route that comes out of left field; however, the dresssphere system is fantastic and the combat is pretty fun. Shuyin is also a pretty good villain in his own right and deserves to be part of a more visible entry.

An ancient spirit born of grief when his beloved Lenne was killed in front of him during the Machina War, Shuyin became a vengeful spirit driven by pure hatred for Spira and its inhabitants. As a manifestation of persistent consciousness, it has unique, terrifying spiritual properties that are not bound to a physical body. Shuyin can possess people if they feel enough hatred in their hearts, essentially turning into a spiritual parasite. Through this ability, he pits factions against each other and throws the world into chaos.

In battle, Shuyin is quite difficult as most of his attacks are just Tidus' overdrive moves, but he is stronger in lore. His most dangerous weapon is the Vegnagun, a doomsday device that can only be piloted by a select few, including Shuyin.

Jade Weapon is a scary antivirus

The most powerful Final Fantasy weapon you forgot about

• Game: Before the Crisis – Final Fantasy 7-

• Post-Game Superboss (sort of, it's weird).

• It's basically impossible to fight these days

To be honest, I might include the strongest bosses Before the Crisis – Final Fantasy 7- and call it a day, simply because of the mobile game's obscurity. A Japanese exclusive that was supposed to be released in North America but never happened due to incompatible devices, Before the crisis takes place several years before the events FF7 and revolves around the Turks. From what I've heard and seen, it was a respectable RPG for its time and platform, and it's a shame most of us will never get to play it.

Released in chapters, the final boss of the campaign, Zirconiade, is an incredibly powerful summon that could eradicate Gaia, and only appears in Before the crisis. I was originally going to include zirconia, but Before the crisis he actually released a post-game boss called the Jade Weapon, a device created to destroy Zirconiade that ended up serving no purpose after defeating the summons; she subsequently turned her attention to the Turks. To be honest, I don't know much about this enemy, but there it is Before the crisis” superboss and main enemy of weapon mode.

Enuo controls the void

Despite being mechanically the simplest of the three superbosses Final Fantasy 5 AdvanceEnuo is 100% the strongest character not only in FF5tradition, but also the entire franchise. Enuo, a historical character in the 1992 game, basically wrote the book that the main villain, Exdeath, runs by, and the knockoff is nowhere near as strong as the original.

Seeking ultimate power (like any good evil wizard), Enuo made a terrifying pact with the universe: he gave up his own physical immortality in exchange for complete, absolute mastery of the Void. It is essentially a multidimensional abyss that cannot be erased and precedes reality itself. He was so overwhelmed that the ancient warriors needed to split the planet into two physical dimensions and seal the Interdimensional Rift.

In most “power corrupts” stories, Enu's hunger becomes his weakness, as his lack of physical presence makes him vulnerable to the Void itself. He ended up swallowed by his own antimatter rift. IN Final Fantasy 5 AdvanceEnu's superboss fight is tough but manageable, even if it doesn't quite live up to his myth.

Cloud of Darkness Is The Void from Final Fantasy 11

Literal end of the line

• The final boss Final Fantasy 11plot “Rhapsodies of Vana'diel”.

• Only the first picture is FF11 version. Other pictures are from Final Fantasy 14, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasyand Final Fantasy 3.

If you consider yourself stubborn Final Fantasy fan, you probably know Cloud of Darkness from both FF3 or FFXIVwhere he serves as a story and raid boss. Alternatively, you may know him as Warrior of Chaos from Dissidia games or as a boss in one of the other spin-offs like All the bravest or Theaterrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call.

Honestly, I could have included a few of the above as they are fairly obscure, but I decided to Final Fantasy 11 version because Cloud of Darkness is the main storyline main epic final boss and I doubt many new players are discovering MMOs these days. This character regularly has an almost Lovecraftian aspect, but FF11 version is by far the most original and widespread subpoena that has become a term. Don't confuse it with FF3the final boss.

A manifestation of the cosmic void, the Cloud of Darkness is essentially the Void that Enou wields, and is far more powerful than the wizard. Cloud of Darkness, literally representing the end of the game, appears when the balance between the forces of light and darkness stagnates. It's the end of time and a return to the void.

You are only fighting a Cloud of Darkness fragment FF11because defeating a space state of this magnitude would be basically impossible.

Bhunivelze Is the Creator of the Worlds

Meh Boss Fight, Incredible Lore

• The final boss Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 and Fabula Nova Crystallis saga

Here we are: the most powerful obscure Final Fantasy character. Of all, Bhunivelze may be the most controversial and I almost missed this divine figure. First, he is the final boss Fabula Nova Crystallisor Final Fantasy 13 trilogy, serving as the final battle in The flash returns. Second, his actual combat is overwhelming and not that much of a challenge.

it's about The flash returns may be the most overlooked modern release in the franchise, especially for a mainline entry. More importantly, Bhunivelze's struggle does not match his tradition, a deity who can create and shape worlds, with a few exceptions. When he wakes up from a deep sleep to find a universe damaged by Chaos, he doesn't try to repair it, but instead plans to erase it so he can create a new one from scratch.

“God” may not be the perfect word to describe Bhunivelz, but he inherits that role when he usurps his mother, the supreme goddess Mwynn. It precedes the fatal history.

He manipulates reality like an author rewriting the page, casually discarding entire planets as minor sources of batteries to power his divine ascension. Yes, Lightning punches Bhunivelz in the face and defeats him fairly easily, but she's basically a goddess at this point.
