After the end of the flashback Esperia Kingdom v One piece chapter 1186 June 28, 2026, the story officially marked the beginning of its main fights, which focused a lot on Monkey D. Luffy as well as his two wings, Zoro and Sanji. In the case of Sanji, the Straw Hat Pirates' cook, he was specifically lined up by Eiichiro Oda to fight Saint Killingham, who was charged with Omen using Nero's Akuma no Mi abilities.
In order to take down such a monster, Eiichiro Oda has now officially prepared the perfect upgrade for Sanji and the story now officially gives him the full power of the devil known as Ifrit, which he first tapped 5 years ago in the climax of the arc. By fully mastering the power of Ifrit after 5 long years, Sanji will reach a whole new level of power that we absolutely cannot wait to see.
Eiichiro Oda gives Sanji the enhanced power of the demon god Ifrit in the Elbaf Arc Climax
Sanji first used the power of Ifrit Jambe 5 years ago in the Wano Country Arc of One piece in Chapter 1034 on December 6, 2021 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump #1. In this chapter, Sanji actually made use of the genetic modifications he received after his latent manipulation of lineage factors kicked in. With an increased exoskeleton, greater muscle mass, and increased durability as well as regeneration, Sanji was able to sustain much hotter flames on his body. These buffs allowed him to produce blue-white flames that he called Ifrit Jambe. Ifrit Jambe's power is as strong as it is because Sanji combines it with his highly refined color Haki armor. However, in the final saga, Armament Haki is not enough.
“The exoskeleton, muscles and speed all increase strength. Add the armor color I developed to my exoskeleton and my legs are more durable, able to withstand much hotter flames!” — Sanji explains how his Germ modifications set him off, One Piece Chapter #1034
IN One piece Chapter 1152, which was officially released on June 23, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #30, Eiichiro Oda officially highlighted Sanji as a potential Conqueror. Scopper Gaban stated that there is more than one with Conqueror's Haki within the Straw Hat Pirates. At the same time, Sanji mentioned in the same chapter that he felt the power of the Conqueror's Haki within him. By unleashing his true Conqueror's Haki, Sanji can officially enhance the Demon God Ifrit's power and raise it to a whole new level. This enhanced power of the Demon God Ifrit takes Sanji to a new level of power and officially makes him one of the elites of the One Piece world in terms of fighting prowess, according to what Kaido said about Supreme King Haki users in One Piece Chapter 1010 on April 12, 2021.
Luffy: You can imbue your attacks with the color of the Supreme King, right?
Kaido: Only a handful of the strongest can. Not a dead man walking!
— Kaido explains the performance level of Conqueror's Infusion users, One Piece Chapter #1010

One Piece reveals a new legendary eye power in Elbaf
Oda revealed a new eye power that could play a huge role in One Piece's Final saga.
Why does the Lore Of Ifrit connect to Sanji's next power-up in Elbaf
The lore of Ifrit, the demon god, is extremely important to Sanji's overarching character as well as his empowerment in Elbaf. Ifrit is a very powerful demon that exists in various folklore and general culture in many Islamic countries. This demonic entity is often associated with the Underworld and is also compared by many to the various Jinn themselves. This supernatural being is said to have massive wings as well as the ability to use fire and smoke. This pairs very well with Sanji, and the fact that he is able to whip out blue flames when using Ifrit Jambe means that he is harnessing the power of the Demon God himself.
As such, Ifrit Jambe is extremely important for Sanji to raise his abilities to a whole new level, and only by mastering the powers of this demon god can Sanji make Luffy the Pirate King. In One Piece Chapter 1182, officially released on May 10, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shounen Jump Issue #24, Eiichiro Oda prepared Sanji for a major boost in his battle against Saint Killingham. In order to defeat this Saint Knight, Sanji needs to awaken Advanced Conqueror's Haki and infuse his body with it. This will allow him to manifest the true power of the demon god Ifrit and raise his overall abilities to the level of emperors.
“Give him enough hits and we can put him out of commission. If these guys have any weakness, it's against those of us who can infuse our attacks with the color of the Supreme King!” — Scopper Gaban explains that Conqueror's Haki is the only weakness of immortals, One Piece Chapter #1170
Sanji could awaken the black flames of the demon god Nero Ima after unlocking the Conqueror's Haki
interesting enough One piece recently introduced his own Demon God in Chapter 1179 via Nero Ima, King of the World April 6, 2026 Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump #19. Imu has the power of “Akuma no Mi” or “Devil Fruit” and this ability allows him to transform into a giant winged demon with horns. Imu also gains the ability to manipulate special black flames called Omen or Maki. These black flames are present in all living beings, according to Nero Imu himself, meaning that even Sanji can tap into these black flames. Since Sanji's flames change colors depending on how strong they are, after using Conqueror's Haki, Sanji could potentially produce black Omena flames that Imu uses in battle.
“The mark is my military power. It is the power that resides in all living beings.” — Imu explains the source of her black flames, One Piece Chapter #1181
With these powerful black flames, Sanji could potentially reach the next level of power and fully complete the parallel with the Demon God Ifrit One piece world. For Luffy to become the Pirate King, his crew must be on a whole different level. Just as Zoro can potentially become the sword god of the One Piece world, Sanji will have to embody the full power of the demon god Ifrit, and we absolutely cannot wait to see how this character develops further.
With the power of the advanced Conqueror's Haki, which Sanji then infuses into his entire body, his strength and durability increase manifold. Most importantly, he will be able to deal lethal damage to immortals such as Saint Killingham among others. We absolutely can't wait to see what Sanji is fully capable of as the straw pirates head towards Final Island in the Grand Line after the events of Elbaf, which was officially teased by Oda himself during Jump Festa 2026 on December 21, 2025.
