A lot of people already have high hopes for Exodus. This sci-fi RPG is being developed by Archetype, a studio made up of former BioWare developers, so many consider it a spiritual successor to the Mass Effect series.
So many were disappointed when it was confirmed that the character creator would be much more limited than Mass Effect. The developers have confirmed that when we design our own Jun Aslan, we'll have “selected options” with the following customization options: “hairstyles, facial hair, hair color, eye color, makeup, and tattoos.”
The worst part, of course, is that those who wanted to create their own character, or perhaps a character that looked a little more like themselves, will no longer be able to do so. But there's another group of fans who are also disappointed – those who think the default Jun is hacked.
Exodus fans want Jun to be reworked before the game launches
Fans have already complained that there was something a little off about Juno's facial animations in the previews we've seen. Fans don't care about his looks at all now. That's not surprising, as we've only just learned that we're probably stuck with this face, so now everyone's going to be a lot more critical.
To make matters worse, we haven't even gotten a good look at female Jun yet. The developers have assured us that it exists, but all the demos so far have been focused on dude-Jun. Granted, that's something it actually shares with Mass Effect, at least before the third game, when femshep was finally allowed to shine.
With Exodus coming out next year, I wouldn't expect any drastic redesigns – especially since it seems like they're still putting the finishing touches on the female protagonist. However, knowing how limited our options will be, fans will have much higher expectations; won't fix it in the character creator.
