The One Piece anime is on an extended hiatus until April 2025. To help fans fill the void left after the hiatus, Toei Animation has decided to release a remastered version of Fish-Man Island.
Like many of the older One Piece arcs, the Fish-Man Island arc suffered from slow pacing. The remastered version will have 21 episodes compared to the original 52. In addition to the anime releasing the remastered episodes, an adaptation of the Straw Hats One Piece novel has been confirmed. It was directed by Megumi Ishitani.
In November 2024, Eiichiro Oda released a Q&A in which he answered some of the biggest questions related to the One Piece manga. He even delved into Luffy and his father's relationship. A new set of vivre cards was also released, giving viewers even more information about their favorite characters. Oda also took a two-week hiatus to help produce the live-action One Piece movie, which is currently filming its second season. The initial season was met with overwhelmingly positive response and was therefore renewed for two more seasons.
