Insider has some bad news for PlayStation fans

Jeff Grubb reports that there are no reports on his end regarding a PlayStation Showcase or State of Play, despite players' expectations. Many big announcements were made during the year and with names like Concord incidentally, PlayStation executives may be interested in giving fans something else to look forward to. It's not out of place to look for further announcements before the end of the year.

Although 2024 saw a lot of big releases for the PlayStation, such as Helldivers 2, Star Bladeand Astro Botgamers who had fun with these titles may be looking for something else to entertain themselves. Naughty Dog has projects in the works, Sucker Punch Productions has announced Ghost of Yoteiand Kojima Productions continue to work on Death Stranding 2. There's a promising lineup in the future for the PlayStation 5, but it's unclear when fans will actually get more information about any of these games. Some hoped that moment could be the start of the winter State of Play or Showcase.

Gaming industry insider Jeff Grubb shared on social media that he has yet to hear any talk of an upcoming PlayStation Showcase or State of Play for December. As 2024 draws to a close, many expect a few more big announcements about upcoming PlayStation Exclusives and other industry leaders, but the lack of word from reputable insiders suggests that there may be little, if any, major developments for PlayStation in the near future.

PlayStation 2024 may be over

Some fans have pointed out that Sony had a January 2024 status and used it as evidence that suggests an early 2025 event is likely. Others believe that there is still a chance for a November or December show and this information will come to light when November is coming to an end. While there is much anticipation as to what the next steps will be for PlayStation, there is another event that players can pin all their hopes on.

Many seem to believe that The Game Awards 2024 is where some big year-end announcements will take place. Xbox, Nintendo, and PlayStation have all used the event to drop big reveals at some point, so it's reasonable to believe that this trend will continue. Nintendo fans believe that The Game Awards will be a great reveal window for the Switch 2, as so many people will be tuning in to see what's going on, and Sony could use some of that time to focus on the bigger PlayStation announcement as well, if the he gets a chance to do that.

PlayStation 5

Sony's PlayStation 5 is part of the ninth generation of consoles and debuted with a launch lineup that included Demon's Souls and Astro's Playroom. The console comes with a Blu-ray disc, although only a digital edition is available for a cheaper price.
