Reddit user jeff_indigo took to the Zelda site subreddits to share his discovery of a strange looking Sheikah eye in Dampe's Hut. A book can be seen on a table in Dampe's Hut with what appears to be the Sheik's Crest, but the design is slightly different. The eye and teardrop look very similar to the standard version, but the triangle-shaped eyelashes above the eye are strangely missing. Jeff_indigo wondered if anyone knew why the book had this particular symbol given its similar – but not identical – properties.
The Book of Zelda is a recurring mystery
Zelda fans expressed curiosity about the book's presence, but were unable to provide any real answers to it. This mystery actually goes back to when the game launched and players first noticed the book, though not necessarily in that location. This prop actually appears in several places in Ocarina of Time 3D version, including Imp's home in Kakariko Village, right next to the graveyard. The book can also apparently be found in the potions shop in Castle Town as well as the Laboratory by the Lake.
Given the connection between the graveyard and the Lens of Truth, including the Sheikah iconography, this could be a nod. However, this would not explain the absence of triangles. It's unlikely to be an oversight, so it seems likely that this eye variant is meant to be a completely separate thing. In any case, even though it appears multiple times, no additional information can be gleaned from the prop or texture itself. Aside from Nintendo bringing it to light, it's likely just a small flare in the background that wasn't meant to be thoroughly explored.
