How to unlock new boards in Super Mario Party Jamboree
There are seven new boards in Super Mario Party Jamboree, but you have to rank up to unlock three of them.
But within all the new content, and even in the overworld, Super Mario Party Jamboree secrets are hidden everywhere – some in plain sight and some that require a bit of searching to find, including references to Nintendo and its games, secret characters, and even hidden interactions when playing as certain characters.
1 The secret characters of Ninja and Pauline
Two secret Mario Party Jamboree characters, right at the start
There are a total of 22 characters you can play as Super Mario Jamboreeincluding secret characters. You start the game with 20 unlocked, and you can unlock two more almost immediately after launching the game.
A ninja who first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2and Pauline, the mayor of New Donk City and the original “damsel in distress” of Donkey Kongboth can be found in the overworld. Take the balloon and go to game mode selection and use the binoculars to look for both Ninji and Pauline – Ninji is on a floating platform while Pauline is on an island in the ocean.
Just look around, zoom in on them once you've located them, and you'll automatically unlock both characters. No additional steps are required – unlike the new one Mario Party Jamboree boards, these new characters are not tied to the ranking system.
2 Donkey Kong? In My Mario Party Jamboree?
It's more likely than you think
One new feature in Super Mario Party Jamboree is the Jamboree Buddy system. Jamboree Buddies can appear on any Mario Party map and provide passive benefits to the player they are following. When you run into a Jamboree friend, they'll trigger a special minigame themed around that character.

Super Mario Party Jamboree: 10 Tips to Win More Games
Despite its randomness, these Super Mario Party Jamboree tips will help you win more games more often.
Donkey Kong's Jamboree Buddy minigame is a minigame directly inspired by DK's Konga Line Donkey Kong series, cult classic rhythm game, spin-off Donkey Kong franchise that used special Bongo controllers to match the on-screen beats.
It's a really fun reference to one of Nintendo's most unique games of its era, but you won't be able to play it very often because there's only a small chance that Donkey Kong will spawn as Jamboree Buddy.
3 Nintendo Switch Joycon Island
A nice homage to The Switch's last Mario Party game
IN Super Mario Party Jamboreeplayers choose their game mode by looking around the world with binoculars after taking off from the Party Plaza. In addition to Ninji and Pauline, players can find another secret from the hot air balloon – an island shaped like two Nintendo Switch Joy-Con consoles.
The design of this island is more than just a neat reference, though it's actually home to three special game modes that use motion controls entirely. On Motion Island you can play Toad's Item Factory, Paratroopa Flight School and Rhythm Kitchen – all multiplayer games that can only be played here.
Toad's Item Factory and Rhythm Kitchen are located where the Joy-Con analog sticks would be, while Paratroppa Flight School can be found in the sky.
4 Big Bob-Omb V Defuse Or Lose
A familiar enemy from the first level of Mario 64
Among the 100+ new (and returning) minigames in Super Mario Party Jamboree many functions refer to previous ones Mario franchise games and characters. In the Defuse Or Lose minigame, in which players try to smother multiple fuses before reaching a large bomb, you may spot a familiar face: King Bob-Omb from Mario 64.

Super Mario Party Jamboree: Every character on the roster
With newcomers like Ninji and Pauline, Super Mario Party Jamboree has the biggest roster yet with 22 playable Nintendo characters.
In the background, all fuses lead to Big Bob-Omb, the first “boss” from the very first level in Bob-Omb Battlefield in Mario 64. King Bob-Omb was more prominent in Super Mario Partyand could be seen in the middle of his own Powderkeg King Boba-Ombo plate.
5 Sellers are respectful
My Liège, we have run out of golden pipes
IN Super Mario Party Jamboreeplaying as certain characters unlocks unique dialogue with different shop vendors on each board. Since they are all occupied by Koopas who ultimately serve Bowser, they will treat players using Bowser or Bowser Jr. characters with more respect.
For example, vendors will refer to both characters as “Lord Bowser” but won't offer their minions a special discount on Mario Party items.
There are several examples of this kind of unique dialogue in the game. If you go through Boo's steal area but are playing as Boo, it will say it's like “looking in a mirror” before asking your target.
6 Shiny Wings At Parachute Flight School
Get special wings by collecting 100 coins
In Motion Island (a Joy-Con-shaped island on a global scale), you can choose from three mini-games that are exclusive to Motion Control. One of these games is the Paratroopa Flight School minigame, which allows players to fly using two Joy Cons as wings that they can flap over.
There are three game modes: Sky Battle, Koopa Paratoppa Taxi and Free Flight mode. If you collect 100 coins in Free Flight, your wings will start to sparkle! It's a small visual effect, but since you have to select this island, select this game mode, and spend time collecting coins to see it Mario Party Jamboree secret, not many players will see it.
