Honkai: Star Rail – The best build and light cones for Jiaoqiu

Jiaoqiu is one of the best debuffs in Honkai: Star Rail, but if you want to get the most value out of it, you'll need to build it right.

Jiaoqiu is a Fire Nihility unit that can inflict a DoT status on enemies and deal significant damage with its Ultimate ability. While he isn't as versatile as some of the other support units in the game, he shines amazingly when you put him on specific teams.

This team is pretty self explanatory as Jiaoqiu works best when paired with Acheron. This is because it needs stacks of Slashed Dreams to activate its Ultimate ability. With his Ultimate, Jiaoqiu deals damage to enemies and activates a domain.

While this field is active, Jiaoqiu inflicts the Ashen Roast debuff on enemies. This debuff increases the DMG received by enemies while causing a Burn status effect which in turn deals DoT DMG. The DoT damage helps Acheron get Slashed Dream stacks fairly quickly.

You can also use Jiaoqiu's Skill and Technique to inflict Ashen Roast on enemies. However, you need to be careful with the use of skills, as every other party member will also need access to these points. finally enemies take additional ultimate damage from allies while Jiaoqiu's domain is active.

This will greatly increase Acheron's damage, allowing you to easily clear late-game content like Memory of Chaos, Apocalyptic Shadow, or Pure Fiction. The damage is further amplified by Pela, which can also deal DoT damage to enemies while lowering their defense.

Once you have the team in place, you need to start with Jiaoqiu's Ultimate, followed by Pela and finally Acheron. If the rotations are correct, you can easily do massive damage and wipe out all forms of content effortlessly.

If you have Acheron's Cone of Light, use her basic ability first and then activate her Ultimate. This will help you cause high damage.

If you have Acheron on Eidolon 2, you can drop Pela and use Sparkle instead. In Eidolon 2, the requirement for two units of Nihility for maximum damage is gone, and Acheron can benefit from buffs from a Harmony unit like Sparkle, which boosts the former's CRIT DMG and overall DMG output.

Aventurine is the primary support for this team as he will provide shields and occasionally use his Ultimate to damage enemies. You can use any other healer or shielder here, but Aventurine is the easiest to use and its sustain surpasses all others in the current meta.

Healer

Kafka is the only DoT DPS in the game and works quite well with Jiaoqiu. This is because her skill has a where condition the more DoT effects there are on the enemy, the more damage it will deal. The damage output of DoT status effects is based on Kafka's own damage.

In this team Jiaoqiu can cause Burn, Black Swan causes Wind Shear, and Kafka can trigger shock. All three of these status effects deal massive damage to enemies and come in handy against tank bosses in Memory of Chaos.

In addition, damage from Kafka's Ultimate is massively boosted by the Jiaoqiu domain. The same principle works for Black Swan, where her ultimate damage is buffed and her Wind Shear stacks burst through the enemy's HP bar due to Ashen Roast debuffs from Jiaoqiu.

However, you must ensure Jiaoqiu, Black Swan, and Kafka all have SPD stats above 135 to get their turn before the enemy.

If you are confident enough, you can use Ruan Mei instead of Luocha and lead the team without support. While your survivability will be greatly reduced, your damage output will be greatly increased. This will require a perfect build of all the other units in the team.

This team is addicted to stacking DoT status effects on enemies and relies on using his skills and ultimate abilities. In addition, you also need to maintain enough Energy Regen so that Kafka and Jiaoqiu can regain their Ultimate abilities as quickly as possible.

Finally, Luocha acts as a primary healer as he can clear debuffs from allies and remove buffs from enemies. The reason Luocha works best here is because he is SP-positive and doesn't need to use his skills as often. This allows the rest of the team to freely use skill points to ensure proper rotation.

Sustainer

If you are missing some of the top tier premium units to pair with Jiaoqiu, you can go for some free-to-play characters which are given to you at the very beginning of the game. Serval is one such unit that can benefit from Jiaoqiu's Ashen Roast debuff and Ultimate boost from his domain.

While Serval's damage isn't that high, when paired with Jiaoqiu, it can work with specific content at the end of the game. In additionAsta further provides ATK and SPD buffs which are always quite nice on both Jiaoqiu and Serval since Nihility reduces the earlier stat. Finally,

Lynx can provide Whole party heals and clears debuffswhich will keep you alive against some of the bosses in the game.

Since Serval doesn't deal enough damage, it's better to build Jiaoqiu as a sub-DPS in this team to make the most of his Ultimate and Skill. Ideally, this would mean that if you want to use this team for Memory of Chaos or Pure Fiction, you have to pull Jiaoqiu's light cone.
