Every possible Switch 2 game revealed so far

If there's one thing that's been a hot topic in the gaming community lately, it's the successor Nintendo Switch. Ever since Nintendo officially announced in May 2024 that it was working on an as-yet-unnamed console, gamers have been waiting with baited breath for its reveal. Unfortunately, even with the year 2024 almost coming to an end, there is quite a bit of information about the upcoming system. While Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 will launch sometime before March 31, 2025, and that it will be backwards compatible with the current Nintendo Switch, it has yet to share specific details about the console. Its price, name, appearance, specifications and release date are still a complete mystery.

Many industry commentators initially believed that the Switch 2 would be revealed in late 2024, but after Nintendo's recent earnings, most now think it will be announced in early 2025. If their prediction holds, then fans will have to wait a little longer at least a few months before the system is exposed, though when that will be anyone's guess. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the impending announcement, several games have already been confirmed for the Switch 2. Of course, Nintendo itself has yet to reveal any titles for the Nintendo Switch successor, but several third-party developers have hinted at their intention to support the unannounced console.

Yooka-Replaylee's Switch 2 port has been teased on several occasions

One of the games seemingly announced for the Switch 2 is Yooka-Replayleean upcoming remaster of the 2017 platformer titled Yooka-Laylee. For those who don't know the name, Yooka-Laylee is a spiritual successor Banjo – Kazooie a series that has largely remained dormant since the mid-2000s. It was developed by Playtonic Games, a British studio made up of ex-Rare employees who worked on the original Banjo-Kazooie. Yooka-Laylee it was originally released on PS4, Xbox One, PC, macOS, and Linux, but was later ported to Nintendo Switch and Amazon Luna.

Playtonic Games has announced Yooka-Replaylee for consoles and PC in June 2024, though it didn't announce specific platforms at the time. Finally, on October 24, 2024, the company revealed that the game was in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and “Nintendo consoles”. The vague terminology used for the Nintendo consoles in question immediately sparked speculation that Yooka-Replaylee was a Switch 2 game, and subsequent teases from the developer seemed to confirm that.

My Time in Evershine is coming to a Nintendo Switch successor

In September 2024, Chinese indie developer Pathea Games announced My time in Evershinenext installment in My time a series of farming sims. While previous entries in the franchise were released on last-gen consoles like the Switch, My time in Evershine it will launch only on current generation systems, namely PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC. It will also be available on “future Nintendo platforms to be announced”; in other words, Switch 2. My time in Evershine it has a more realistic art style compared to its predecessors, so it's probably too demanding for the current Switch. It's likely that it will work better on Nintendo's next console instead.

The Legend of Dark Witch Episode 4 is the only confirmed Switch 2 exclusive

The only other game confirmed for the Switch 2 so far is The Legend of Dark Witch Episode 4: Thoughts Delivered. This title didn't get as much coverage as Yooka-Replaylee and My time in Evershine they have, but that's because very little is known about it. The game, which is being developed by Inside Systems, is new Legend of the Dark Witch franchise, a 2D action platformer that has been around since 2015. The Legend of Dark Witch Episode 4 was announced only for “successors Nintendo Switch“, so it's technically the first known console exclusive.
