What is the sacred kingdom?
The Sacred Kingdom, also known as the Holy Kingdom, is a land defended by the Great Wall that was peaceful for a long time until an army of demi-humans commanded by the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth attacked the land. The Liberation Army then seeks help from Aizen's Sorcerer Kingdom in a desperate attempt to save the country, given that the Sorcerer Kingdom and the Sacred Kingdom are not on good terms.
The Sacred Kingdom was founded 200 years before the story after defeating the evil deities whose national hero is the Valkyrie Knight. It is divided into the Northern Holy Kingdom and the Southern Holy Kingdom.
What is Overlord's story about?
Ruler takes place in a fictional “DMMORPG” (highly immersive games in which players can be “fully immersed” as in more sophisticated VR technology) called Yggdrasilwhose servers will be shut down soon. The player, known in-game as Momonga (later known as Ainz Ooal Gown), wants to enjoy the game as long as he can. However, when the time comes, he is still inside the game, and all the other characters seem to have gotten their own personalities now. Then Momonga, who is a powerful magician, decides to continue living there.
The story was originally a self-published novel by Kugane Maruyama between 2010 and 2012, later acquired and compiled by Enterbrain in Japan, with 16 volumes published to date. Yen Press publishes the novel and manga adaptation in the US.
In 2015, the first season aired in Japan. The second and third seasons debuted in 2018. Then, in 2022, the fourth season was finally released. With 52 episodes, all seasons have retained most of the main cast. The film was announced in 2021 along with a fourth season.
