Bleach: Ichigo's Most Important Matches, Ranked
Bleach's Ichigo didn't walk away from any of these battles empty-handed because they forced him to grow as a shinigami and a human.
Despite all being Quincy and pledged to their King Yhwach, each Sternritter is completely different in their personalities, abilities, and most importantly for this list, their appearance. From minimalistic and mysterious to over-the-top and over-the-top, these are Sternritter with some of the best designs in the story Bleach. Before we get into it, it should be noted that the basic Sternritter forms will be considered, not their transformations.
8 Bazz-B
Bazz's cool mohawk and casual clothes immediately make him stand out
- First appearance: TYBW Episode 3
As already proven with Grimmjow, Kubo knows exactly how to make a punk-rock character look the part, with Bazz-B being another clear example. Despite the fairly minimalistic design, there's a lot to be learned about Bazz's character when you take a closer look. The fact that he chooses to keep the top of his outfit completely open emphasizes that he's not exactly the most formal guy, suggesting his unpredictable and restless personality.
Clearly, the most striking aspect of Bazz B's look is the bright pink mohawk that rests on top of his head. While this sounds like it should look ridiculous, for Bazz it just makes him look even more disgusting and further shows how little he cares about social norms or what people think of him in general.
7 Grammy Thoumeaux
Gremmy's introverted appearance emphasizes how distant he is from his friends
- First Appearance: TYBW Episode 15
Gremmy is another character whose appearance and design may seem a little basic at first glance, but there's still plenty to dissect, which reveals a lot about the man or the brain behind it. Gremmy doesn't take any creative liberties with his Sternritter trench coat, keeping it fully buttoned up and always keeping the hood hanging over his head to hide his identity.
All of this lends the imaginative con artist an aura of mystery while also suggesting that he's somewhat of an introvert who prefers to keep to himself. As later shown in his fight with Kenpachi, Gremmy is truly a heartless killer who doesn't like to give things away, even to his friends, and his dress sense definitely reflects that.
6 Quilge Opie
Kubo made sure the first Sternritter in the series looked as menacing as possible
- First appearance: TYBW Episode 1
Quilge is the very first official Sternritter that Ichigo encounters in the story, and it's fair to say that he gives a clear idea of what the group is about, even just from his appearance. Quilge is seen wearing a small cap that slightly covers his shadows, which seem to be glued to his eyes. He also dons the standard Sternritter attire with a long white cape and a pair of white gloves for good measure.
All of this suggests that this is a guy who is all about formality, and clearly someone who dresses in a way that allows him to look down on others with how well put together he is. Before his transformation, Quilge almost always has a scolding smirk on his face that further shows his no-nonsense attitude and personality.
5 Lille Barro
Lille took some creative liberties with his unique outfit
- First Appearance: TYBW Episode 15
Lille's unique design suggests that he wasn't too fond of the traditional Sternritter outfit, causing him to seemingly create his own makeshift outfit, which is far more experimental than many others. Although he retains the white vest, the sleeves are completely removed, and half of Lille's clothing is a soft green color, including a small and dark two-cornered hat that contrasts with his light blond hair.
Lille is so devoted to Yhwach's cause that he also has many symbols emblazoned around his clothing, including the Wandenreich symbol on both sides of his cap along with small emblems on his gloves. His always moody facial expression and single closed eyes also give the impression that Lille is someone who has been involved in battles, making him an extremely intimidating individual who can intimidate his enemies before even firing a bullet.
4 Bambietta Basterbine
Bambietta's Sense Of Style And Varied Facial Expressions Have Made Her A Fan Favorite
- First appearance: TYBW Episode 3
Bambietta is a Sternritter who easily stands out from the crowd, not only with her clothes but also with her facial expression. One moment she can be shown with a cocky and arrogant look on her face, while the next her eyes will be wide open as she witnesses a powerful opponent standing before her.

The Gotei 13 are powerful, but how does their design hold up?
Kubo and the animators of the Thousand Year Blood War arcanima clearly had fun with Bambietta's expressions, and the result is a character that always keeps people guessing. Additionally, Bambietta's thick trench coat, which is designed to look a bit baggy on her petite frame, combined with her over-the-knee boots has made her a bit of a fashion icon for many. Bleach fans.
3 Askin
Askin's nonchalant design masks its basic capabilities
- First appearance: TYBW Episode 4
Askin has a somewhat unusual appearance that almost feels like it was ripped from a completely different anime. He has been joked many times that he closely resembles Aizen in terms of his facial structure, and while the similarities are clearly visible, Askin also has this derpy look on his face that makes him seem incredibly weird and unpredictable.
However, as he is an official member of the Schutzstaffel, his wild expression is complemented by a stylish hooded coat and a matching white V-neck shirt underneath that makes him look more like a high official in the Quincy army. It's an odd pairing, but one that purposefully keeps fans wondering what this guy is up to and why they can't look away from the screen whenever he appears.
2 Gerard
Gerard's powerful appearance is matched by his impressive physical strength
- First Appearance: TYBW Episode 15
Kubo is no stranger to borrowing from ancient history when designing characters, and in the case of Gerard, it's clear he took a few notes from Norse mythology when creating this Thor lookalike. However, while the silky blonde hair and massive frame harken back to this ancient hero, Gerard still has a few other quirks that help him stand out, one of which is the white mask that rarely falls from his face.

He also has his own unique red cape that really reinforces his image as the brave and powerful “hero” he imagines himself to be. All these extra decorations and clothing choices aren't just for show, though, as Gerard's powers are still strong enough to easily be mistaken for a Norse god given his immense power.
1 Like Nodt
Because Nodt's spiked mask and deep black eyes are enough to strike fear into any opponent
- First appearance: TYBW Episode 3
Nodt's strange and unnerving design is very much in line with his special abilities that allow him to manipulate his enemies with fear. As a result, Ace is all about scaring his opponents, which is pretty easy given his looks. Since his mouth is covered by a black mask with spikes, it draws the audience's attention directly to his jet-black eyes, which are more than enough to strike fear into even the most seasoned horror fans.
Additionally, As Nodt is a very tall and slender being who can often be seen elongating his body in all sorts of strange and creepy ways, and who can forget the long flowing black hair that makes him look like a heavy metal singer. . It's a design that is so striking that it sticks with many fans long after As met his demise at the hands of Rukia.
