Naruto is a popular shonen anime that needs no introduction. The story of the main character overcoming numerous adversities to fulfill his childhood goal of becoming Hokage is an inspiring story that has fans rooting for the character until the very end.

One of the most interesting characters Naruto is his rival, the only survivor of the Uchiha clan massacre. Sasuke's life is ruled by hatred, which causes him to drift down a dark path where the only person who can pull him out is a friend he wants to cut all ties with.

8 VS Orochimaru

He showed his “Master” who was really in charge

After leaving the Leaf Village to study under Orochimaru, Sasuke honed his skills and became stronger than ever before. Although after a while it was clear that he had surpassed his mentor. It was time to leave.

Orochimaru didn't take it well, engaging in battle with the body he wanted to inhabit. However, Sasuke's mastery over the Sharingan was too strong and he managed to reverse Orochimaru's technique and seal the vile villain in the very sign of the curse he placed on Sasuke.

7 With Taka VS Killer Bee

On a mission from Akatsuki to capture the Eight-Tails

After joining Akatsuki, Sasuke embarked on a mission for Akatsuki to conquer the Eight-Tails. Killer Bee was no joke, but Sasuke had a strong team to rely on. The combined power of Taka was too much and Killer Bee fell after a short but glorious fight.

While Bee seemed stunned, he managed to perform one last trick on the group to ease the pain of his loss. He tricked the group into thinking that the piece of the Eight-Tails' tentacle was Bee's body. To make matters worse, the Raikage was enraged by this attempt to harm Bee, which set off a chain of events that caused a lot of pain to both Naruto and Sasuke.

6 VS Danzo Shimura

He avenged the Uchiha massacre by killing the puppet master behind the scenes

Danzo is one of the worst characters Naruto. His erratic behind-the-scenes planning has caused the villagers plenty of heartache, with the villain giving approval to the Uchiha massacre and capturing clan members for his twisted experiments. After learning the truth about Itachi's deed, Sasuke relishes the opportunity to exact revenge on the power-hungry Danzo.

The battle that followed showed just how possessed Danzo was with the Sharingan as Izanagi rewrote his death several times. But he eventually ran out of eyes and a failed attempt to take Karin hostage spelled his doom when cold-blooded Sasuke took him for good.

5 VS Deidara

A surprisingly gripping fight where Deidara's hatred of the Uchiha controls his motivation

Deidara is a character who seems too rushed for his own good only to turn into one of Akatsuki's best members. Considering how cold-blooded most of the villains in this group were, it was nice to see Deidara's hot-bloodedness when it came to the aggression he displayed in battle.

This is evident during his fight against Sasuke where he proclaims his hatred for the Uchiha and how they have always looked down on him. His explosions reached a fever pitch before Deidara sacrificed himself with a Hail Mary attack that would have killed Sasuke if not for a timely summon that served as a saving flesh shield.

4 VS A (Raikage)

A brutal battle against the Raikage where the powers of the Mangekyo Sharingan are on full display

• Arc: Summit of the Five Kage
• Winner: None (battle aborted)

After infiltrating the Five Kage Summit, the Raikage found a unique opportunity to punish the man who had harmed his brother. However, Sasuke's Mangekyo Sharingan meant that he could use some elite abilities to fight this powerful warrior on an equal footing.

He whipped out Susanoo and Amaterasu to form a final defense during their fight, his mastery of both techniques increasing throughout the battle. However, the Raikage surprised him by throwing all caution out the window and sacrificing his arm to throw a devastating blow. While the rest of the Kage interrupted the battle, it is possible that Sasuke would have been leveled had the battle gone on longer.

3 VS Naruto Uzumaki (Round 1)

The iconic clash where Naruto broke his bonds and left the village forever

• Winner: Sasuke Uchiha

The Sasuke Recovery Mission ends with a bombastic battle in which both Naruto and Sasuke get into a fight to settle their differences. Naruto was willing to break every bone in Sasuke's body to bring him back to the Leaf Village, while the latter wanted to gain immense power at any cost after being humiliated by Itachi and outclassed by Naruto.

The battle that ensues is intense, with both characters smashing each other with powerful attacks. Even after the Chidori punctures Naruto's lungs, the Nine-Tails bring him back from the brink of death to surprise Sasuke, who must trigger the Cursed Seal transformation to finally come out on top.

2 VS Itachi Uchiha

A Spooky Clash Between Brothers A long time in the making

• Winner: Sasuke Uchiha

The battle between Sasuke and Itachi was a long time in the making. Sasuke's goal of killing his brother was tantalizingly close, but it was clear that his brother would outmatch him in a fair fight. However, Itachi not only suffered from the disease, but he had so much love for his younger brother that there was no way he could have dealt him a fatal blow.

Instead, he used the fight as an excuse to drain Sasuke's chakra to bait Orochimaru into coming out, completely removing his toxic presence from his beloved brother before manifesting the Mangekyo Sharingan powers. The battle ends with one final poke to Sasuke's forehead as Itachi apologizes for his death before falling to the ground.

1 VS Naruto Uzumaki (Round 2)

Naruto's final fight where Sasuke finally acknowledges his opponent

• Winner: Naruto Uzumaki

With Kaguya sealed away and the war all but over, Sasuke revealed his true plan to kill all the Kages and start over. It was a brutal plan that Naruto opposed, leading to a fateful rematch where the duo would throw down their most powerful techniques.

A spectacular battle ensues with two of the strongest characters Narutohistory. From regular melee combat to massive attacks in their most powerful forms, both fighters put everything on the line before draining all of their chakra. However, they had to unleash one final attack where the Rasengan and Chidori collided again as both fighters lost their dominant arms. While this fight could have been a draw, what cemented Naruto's victory is the fact that Sasuke admitted defeat for the first time and accepted Naruto. He agreed to give up his plans and follow Naruto's example, eventually following the path of an honorable shinobi.
