A new multiplayer strategy RPG is blowing up on Steam

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Eraa new entry in the classic strategy RPG series, recently exploded onto Steam. The game was recently released into Early Access on Steam and has quickly climbed the bestseller list. With a retro feel, new mechanics and multiplayer PvP options Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era offers plenty of fun for nostalgic fans and newcomers to the series alike.

The Heroes of Might and Magic the series dates back to 1995 when the first entry was released for DOS, later reaching Windows PCs in 1996. A staple of 90s PC gaming, Heroes of Might and Magic featured a turn-based strategy game where players could control armies of mythical creatures through fantasy-inspired battles. Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era climbs to the top of the Steam bestseller list

The Unfrozen developer team recently shared on Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era Steam community page that the game sold over 500,000 copies in just 72 hours. The game is also the second best-selling product on Steam, behind free-to-play Counter-Strike 2. That's quite an impressive feat considering it's above other major games like Windrose and Diablo 4: Lord of Hatredas well as upcoming Forza Horizon 6.

In the same report, Team Unfrozen also shared that the game has over 6,000 reviews, 25,000 members on the official Discord, and a peak concurrent player count of over 60,000. Those numbers are pretty impressive for a game that's still in Early Access, but the Steam user rating of “Very Positive” is a testament to how many players are enjoying the game. The developer has also been actively releasing updates and bug fixes following the game's Early Access launch, showing a dedication to the game and its players that will likely help maintain its popularity.

As the first new record in Heroes of Might and Magic franchise for more than ten years, The old era has recaptured many of the features that made the original records from the 90s so popular. The game allows players to explore various maps, both hand-crafted and procedurally generated, engage in strategic turn-based battles in its non-linear single-player campaign, or engage in the game's PvP multiplayer and battle other players in various game modes.
