Changing the price of Xbox Game Pass would only be the first step

With Xbox rumored to be considering a Game Pass pricing change, it's the perfect time to overhaul another aspect of the subscription service.

The Xbox Mass Update is available to all users

A month after the features were rolled out to Xbox Insiders, Microsoft's latest Xbox Series X/S update is slowly rolling out to all users on both consoles. This update features new customizable guide colors, increases the number of available groups to 10 (up from the previous limit of two groups), and adds new profile badges to celebrate various milestones achieved by Xbox players. Most notably, the update also adds a new feature to the Quick Resume feature, allowing players to disable it for specific titles.

A few new useful features were also introduced that weren't introduced to Xbox Insiders last month. As part of the Cloud Gaming system interface, Xbox has added additional ways to measure streaming quality. Specifically, the User Selected Resolution and Network Quality Indicator options allow players to have more control over how cloud games look and perform. The My Games & Apps tab now includes a new Game History tab that allows players to view their history without having to return to the home menu.

Xbox's president confirms that Microsoft's next-gen console is in development

The latest updates offer a lot of convenience to gamers, especially with the new Xbox Quick Resume setting. While the ability to jump back into a paused game even after shutting down the system is new, online games tend to have issues with this feature. Online titles often disconnect from servers when the system is down, forcing players to close them manually, and this feature is somewhat debatable. With the ability to quickly disable this feature, players can return to certain non-optimized games with minimal issues and have more control over how they choose to play.

These new features may just be the start of improvements to the console, as Microsoft recently revealed that the Xbox achievements will be getting an update. Achievements will now have a new visual look and players will be able to highlight games in which they got 100% achievements. As Xbox continues to listen to player feedback, the latest dashboard updates are likely just the first of what is sure to be a promising set of upcoming improvements for the Xbox Series X/S.
